"Thanks." He goes into the bathroom and returns with a bottle of conditioner. "Taking this." He winks at Julieta.
And this just gets worse.
Images of Ryker and Julieta showering together are not what I want in my mind before breakfast.
"Found it!" Julieta holds a metal canister up in the air.
"Good girl." Ryker takes it, and I don't miss the sneaky little slap on the ass he plants on her.
She giggles.
Oh, for crying out loud.
"Is there any food we can take for the ride?" I ask.
Julieta picks up a yellow canvas bag off the counter. "Already ahead of you. And Ryker said you liked breakfast sandwiches, so I made some and wrapped them up for you."
She made me breakfast?
"Ummm...thanks."
Ryker gives Julieta and Vanessa smaller metal containers of coffee. He tosses me a similar one.
I pour the rest of my current cup in it. "Ready to go?"
"Yep."
We sling our backpacks over our shoulders, and I grab the food bag from Julieta. "I'll take this."
"Thank you."
Okay, she's too happy.
I almost prefer the old Julieta because I'm not sure who this woman is.
Okay, maybe that's a little unfair.
Nope. I shouldn't let my guard down.
"I also added extra bacon to yours. And onions and cream in your scrambled eggs. Ryker told me you have a thing about that."
Okay. Maybe she just became cool.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"That was nice of you."
"It's no problem."
Vanessa bites another smile and holds the door open for us. We leave the house. We get to the Jeep and put everything in it.
"Oh. I almost forgot," Julieta says.
"What's that?" I say.
"We need to get a tarp."
