I murmur, "Let me turn the recording off."

She freezes, her eyes wide. She bites her lip.

"What?" I ask.

Her cheeks flush. She asks, "Do you think we could watch it?"

I can't stop my grin. I kiss her then state, "Let me turn everything off. We'll watch it in our new bedroom."

I go to move her off me, but she stops me. "Wait."

I arch my eyebrows.

She leans forward, softly smiles, and declares, "I really do love you."

"I love you, dolce. More than anyone on Earth," I reply.

Her smile grows, but something about it appears sad. She reiterates through glistening eyes, "No. I want you to understand that I really love you, no matter what. My entire heart and soul belong to you. No matter what happens, please don't ever forget it."

Alarms ring in my ears. I swipe my thumbs under her blues. "What are you worried is going to happen?"

She opens her mouth then closes it, jerking her head away.

"Hey," I say.

She slowly refocuses on me. "Nothing. You make me happy, Massimo. I don't want it to change."

I kiss her and tug her into my arms. "Nothing is happening to us, dolce. You're stuck with me for life, and nothing could ever change how I feel about you."

"Promise me," she chokes into my neck.

I tighten my arms around her. "I promise you. Nothing on Earth could ever change how I feel about you. And I'll die before I let anything happen to you. You're my girl."

She clutches me, snuggling further into me.

I rise and pick her up. "Let's get out of here. It's time I showed you our bedroom." I turn off the recording and microphone, carry her out of the playroom, and take her directly to our bed.

Our bed.

She's mine now and always will be.

When I set her on the mattress, my only thought is that I finally have the woman of my dreams. Life is only going to get better from here.

Massimo'swarm body is wrapped around mine. It's like being swaddled in a cocoon, and I don't ever want to come out.

I told him I lied about the employee handbook.

Why did I admit that?

Ugh.

His lips brush my forehead, and I force myself to wake up. I blink several times to adjust to the morning light, taking in the beautiful, luxurious bedroom.

Panic crashes through me.
