Two vans pull up beside ours in the garage. I pull my gun out and hold it to Dominico's head. His eyes widen, and he warns, "I'm a federal agent. If you kill me, it'll come back to haunt you."
The devil in me fills my soul. He's so potent, I can feel the shift. My lips twitch, and I lean closer. "Do you think your threats scare me?"
He clenches his jaw.
I sniff him and then cock my Glock, pressing it harder into his skull. Then I state, "You fucking stink. When did you shower last?"
He remains quiet, but his body shakes.
"When I speak to you, the best thing to do is answer," I assert.
"You don't know what you're doing," he snarls, but he has no leg to stand on. He's my captive, and nothing will change his fate.
I grab his handcuffs and tug him toward the back of the van, ordering, "Look around. Do you see anyone here who's going to help you?"
He lifts his chin, but there's no hiding the fear in his eyes.
Something about his helplessness fuels everything evil within me. I shove the gun in his mouth, and piss drips down his legs. I lean into his ear, lying, "You've got two options. Die now, or try to save your life. What's it going to be?"
His muffled protests fill the air. Everything about it humors me. I glance at Tristano, who's equally amused, based on the gleam in his eye.
The screeching of the fourth van pulling into the garage hits my ears. I remove the gun, step back, and punch Dominico in the side of the head. Blood flies everywhere. I scream, "When I ask a question, I want answers."
His head flops to the side. Tristano steps up, tugs me back, and states, "Easy. We should get him in the dungeon before you start this."
I breathe through my anger. But there's also a nagging fear inside me. I can't shake it.
Why was he watching her?

Katiya
"All done. Should I help Carrie?"I ask Alicia.
She tears her eyes off her paperwork and nudges her multicolored glasses up on her nose. "That was fast."
I shrug. "Whoever added the books to the cart alphabetized them. It made it easy."
"Horatio needs to take a lunch. Why don't you relieve him?" she replies.
"Okay." I take a step then freeze.
Ask her.
I need to talk to Leo first.
Massimo will kill me if I don't request time off.
Alicia clears her throat. "Katiya? Is there something else?"
I open my mouth then shut it. My chest tightens. I shake my head and force a smile. "Nope. All good. I'll go tell Horatio to go to lunch."
"Tell him not to return late this time," she warns.
"Will do." I stroll to the checkout counter and wait until Horatio finishes checking out a younger woman. When she leaves, I state, "Alicia said you can take your lunch break, but to be sure you stick to the thirty minutes."
He scoffs, waving his hand and leaning closer to me. "Why's she so uptight lately?"
