"No," I admit.
He motions for me to go over to the corner. I follow, and he says in a low voice, "What did they say you were in here for?"
"No details. Just the club and docks. You?"
"Club."
We stare at each other for a while.
He glances behind him and steps even closer. "Angelo has cops on the payroll, correct?"
"Yeah."
He takes a deep breath and releases it then pats my back. "Good. We'll be out soon."
"Have you been booked before?" I ask.
Killian snorts. "Yeah. Of course."
I stay silent.
He arches his eyebrows and jerks his head backward. "You haven't gotten arrested before?"
"No."
"Never?"
"No," I repeat.
"Damn. Lucky you," he mumbles. He spins and focuses on Garrett. "Who's your friend?"
Garrett scowls, but it isn't as big as when I came into the cell. "What's it to you?"
"Easy," I order. "Garrett, this is my brother-in-law, Killian."
Garrett peers closer at Killian. "Smart move marrying into the Marino family."
"Excuse me?" Killian asks, as if insulted.
"You know."
"No, I don't. Why don't you fill me in," Killian sneers.
Garrett itches his nose then replies, "Protection. The backing of a legitimate family. And hey, man, no offense, but I can see why a man like you would want that."
Killian's face turns maroon. "A man like me?"
Garrett nods. "Yeah."
Killian glares at him then steps forward. He points in his face. "You have no idea who I am. You should watch your mouth."
Garrett cockily asks, "Yeah? Who are you without the Marinos?"
Amused, I lean against the wall.
Killian's green eyes glow wild. He threatens, "I'm the motherfucker who might just become your worst nightmare."
Garrett raises his chin, flaring his nostrils. "Is that so?"
