"Killian," Arianna mutters.
"What have you done?" Carmine asks me.
I wince. "Ummm..."
What do I even say? I can't exactly tell him about my abduction or wedding.
A smug expression grows on Gianni's face. "She vowed to love me for the rest of her life."
I shoot him some daggers. I don't need him ruffling Carmine's feathers.
Carmine glances between Gianni and me while an uncomfortable silence ensues. He finally puts his hand on my shoulder. "We need to talk in private."
"Anything you say to her, she'll tell me," Gianni arrogantly claims.
Carmine's head jerks toward him. "Why is that? You think you don't have secrets?"
"We don't," Gianni declares.
Carmine snorts. "So you have nothing you're hiding from Cara?"
Gianni crosses his arms and firmly repeats, "As I said, we don't."
"Sure. And pigs fly with rainbows all around them."
"Is that a thing? Rainbows and piggies?" Killian asks.
Arianna groans and once again mumbles in warning, "Killian."
He holds his hands in the air. "What? The dude obviously has it out for your brother."
Carmine pivots. "Why don't you ask me why I don't want him anywhere near Cara."
I grab Carmine's bicep. "Let's go talk."
He smirks at Gianni and begins to lead me out of the room.
Gianni follows.
Carmine spins. "Do not follow us."
"Sorry, but wherever Cara goes, I go."
Carmine huffs. "I don't know what century you think it is, but—"
"It's for Cara's protection."
"Why? What have you gotten her involved in?"
Gianni's jaw clenches and his nostrils flare.
I motion toward an office. "That room doesn't lead anywhere. We'll be fine there."
Gianni gives me a disapproving look.
"I can go in with her," Killian offers.
"What? No. You're staying out here," I tell him.
