My chest tightens. I have no idea how I'll make things right with Sean, but I know I need to. Not because of Bridget but because of the relationship I've always had with him. I firmly state, "I'll handle Sean. How's Fiona treating you?"

Bridget scoffs. "She hates me. The principal caught her and her boyfriend making out."

My insides tense, thinking about her boyfriend. Declan insisted he was an asshole on Thanksgiving when he threw him out. I make a note to pay him a visit to have a little talk. I arch my eyebrows, remembering my high school days and the building. "Janitors' closet?"

Bridget nods. "Yep. The one and only."

I groan. "You think they'd learn to lock it up."

"Right?"

"Want me to talk to Fiona?" I ask.

"And say what?"

I shrug. "Not sure yet."

Bridget smiles. Her voice softens. "It's okay. Thanks for the offer, but I think it might make it worse."

"Maybe she'll just hate me instead of you?" I tease, but I would take that bullet to get Bridget off the hook.

She kisses me. "That's sweet, but I'll keep that in the back of my mind if I think it'll come in handy down the road."

"All right. Where were you when I called you tonight?" I ask.

She hesitates then says, "Just out."

Something about how she says it makes me suspicious. "Where?"

"To dinner."

"With who?"

She hesitates again.

I sit up. "Bridget, what aren't you telling me?"

She shakes her head. "Nothing. I was with Cara."

Rage fills me. "Cara was at the club."

Bridget shrugs. "We had dinner first."

"I told you not to ever step foot in there again."

She jumps off the bed. "I went to dinner. How do you know Cara was at the club? Were you there?"

"Yeah. I had a situation I needed to take care of."

"So it's okay for you to hang out there, but I'm not allowed? You're so hypocritical, Dante."

Blood pounds between my ears. I firmly claim, "I have family issues I need to take care of from time to time. You know this."

"Do I? Or do you just miss all the amenities?" she snaps.

"Don't flip this around. And stop insinuating I'm cheating on you. It's getting old, dolcezza," I state.

She huffs and moves into the bathroom. I follow her and grab her elbow, spinning her into me. "Is the club somewhere you want to be?"
