He circles the platinum chain around my neck and clasps it. Then he sits back, staring at me. "It looks better than I imagined."
A wave of emotion hits me. I blink, but tears escape. I get on my knees and straddle him, lacing my fingers behind his neck. "Thank you. It's amazing."
His grin widens. "I knew you'd love it."
"I do." I put everything I have into my kiss.
He tightens his arms around me and mumbles, "What time do you need to be home?"
I retreat, stroking the side of his head. "What time is it now?"
"Ten."
I groan. "I should probably go before the kids see me strolling in, in my dress from last night."
His eyes light up. He points at a bag on the couch. "Or, you could put on the outfit I got you."
I tilt my head. "When did you do that?"
"Ordered it last night when you fell asleep." He winks.
"Well, aren't you resourceful," I tease. "What is it?"
He beams. "Yoga pants, an oversized tunic, shoes, and undergarments. Perfect for looking like you went out to grab a coffee or something."
I peck him on the lips. "That was very thoughtful of you."
He pats my ass. "As much as I want you to stay here, go get dressed. We'll grab some coffee on the way to your father's. I need to speak with him, so I'll break the news to him about us."
My stomach flips, not because I want to keep hiding but because this is finally becoming real.
Dante's face falls. "You haven't changed your mind, have you?"
I shake my head. "No."
Relief replaces his worry. "Good."
"I can talk to my father though. You shouldn't have to."
Dante scoffs. "Nope. I will. Now, go jump in the shower. You smell like sex."
I laugh. "Are you joining me?"
"Yep."
We both rise, I throw my hair in a knot, and we shower. I put on my new outfit then wrap my arms around Dante. "I love this."
He gives me a chaste kiss. "I'm glad. Ready?"
"Yep."
He takes my hand, guiding me through the Marino mansion. We're close to the door when his father appears. His eyes dart between us, then he nods at me. "Bridget."
My face heats, but I smile.
He redirects his attention to Dante. "We need to discuss last night."
My stomach dives. Dante shot up the place. Angelo doesn't look too happy about it. I'm sure there will be consequences.
