“You’d move on, and try to be happy,” he said, mimicking my tone of voice.

I held my breath, trying hard not to lose it.

I knew he said that to prepare me for the eventuality that I might lose him one of these days.

But—

I took a stuttered breath.

“Fuck. Breathe, pet. For me. Just breathe, okay, baby? I’m sorry I said that. You’ll never know what it’ll be like to lose me, I promise, okay? I promise.” He cupped my cheeks and bent down to look me in the eye. “Breathe for me.”

I took in a deep breath.

“Come on,” he said. “Let’s get you cleaned up, and we’ll go to bed. It’s been a long night for the both of us.”

I could only nod.

Damien took off his pants, and I looked down as his cock sprang free from its confinements.

Even at times like this, I couldn’t help but admire his beauty.

He still hadn’t taken me. He seemed satisfied with watching and instructing, but I wondered what was going on inside his head or why he felt the need to keep this distance between us.

He grabbed my hand and led me to the already filled tub. We both climbed in, and he wrapped his arms tightly around me before we fully submerged into the warm water.

My hands glided across the surface, watched as the water rippled from the move, while Damien watched me.

I knew he was.

I could feel his eyes on me.

We didn’t say anything for a moment. But when he moved to grab the sponge, I stopped him with one hand on his wrist. I turned around to face him fully.

Our eyes met.

“Let me?” I asked softly.

He hesitated before nodding and letting go of the sponge. I placed it down on the corner of the tub before grabbing the shampoo bottle.

I squirted some on my hands and gently massaged it through his scalp. He closed his eyes and relaxed back in the tub.

I kept my eyes on him, trying to take in every single one of his features, committing it to memory.

“Beautiful,” I said softly.

His eyes slowly opened, and he offered me a small smile. “I think that’s my line.”

I looked down and shook my head. “You’re beautiful, Damien.”

He brought my hand up and kissed the back of it. “Thank you, baby.”

I smiled, rinsed the shampoo off his head, and grabbed the sponge. I put some body wash on there, rubbing it with my hands until it foamed over.

Slowly, I moved it across his body, cleaning him.

His eyes focused intently on me.

We didn’t say anything, and for the first time since I’d known him, Damien let me take care of him.
