She simply wouldn’t allow it.

But meeting the boys was the least of my concerns right now.

Because I was currently watching a restless Catalina flutter around the kitchen in an attempt to take care of me as best as she could.

I hadn’t taken her in fully when we first got back, but now that I got a better look, it was obvious that she had lost weight.

And it wasn’t like she had that much to lose to begin with.

She walked to me with a plate filled with poached eggs and avocado toast.

I was sure she didn’t make this, but she prepared the plate herself, and what was more, she only prepared one plate.

“Where’s yours?” I asked with a frown.

She looked down. “I’m not really hungry.”

“Pet,” I said.

She shook her head and rubbed her tummy. “I have an upset stomach. I don’t think I can eat anything just yet.”

She barely had any dinner last night.

I opened my mouth, but she interrupted me when she placed the plate in front of me and kissed my temple.

My frown deepened.

“Eat up. You’re going to need to rebuild your energy.”

And then she was off to the kitchen before I could say anything more.

I looked at her while she flitted from one place to the next over the kitchen. I didn’t even know what she was doing there. We had someone come in once a week to deep clean the place. Besides that, we ordered food, or one of us would do the cooking.

Catalina didn’t know how to cook.

So what the hell was she doing?

She returned to where I was sitting with a glass of water in hand, shooting me a strained smile.

Her eyes were dimmed, and she had lost some of the colors on her cheeks.

I sat up on my chair when she got near, planning on grabbing her and keeping her close. I would not let her go until she ate half of everything on the plate she’d set in front of me.

I didn’t get the chance.

She placed the cup of water on the table, then dropped straight to the ground in a dead faint.

“Catalina!” I shouted, getting up from my seat and ignoring the pain caused by the sudden movement.

Nikolay and Mikhail came out of their room when they heard me, before rushing over to us.

“I got her,” Mikhail said, carrying her in his arms.

I had never felt more helpless in my entire fucking life. And I didn’t even think I could have carried her out of there with my lack of strength.

Nikolay helped me up, and we followed Mikhail to Catalina’s room.

“Call the doctor,” I said to him. He nodded quietly. His cheeks paled as he pulled out his phone.
