“And in so much fucking trouble,” Nikolay said from behind me.

I jumped a little and turned my head back to see both Damien and Nikolay awake, though a hint of sleep remained in their eyes.

They looked soft.

I sighed, lying fully on my back and looking up at the ceiling. “I know.”

“Good,” Nikolay said.

My lips threatened to curve into a smile from that. I didn’t care how much trouble I was in, because everyone I loved was here.

I grabbed Damien’s hand, and he gripped me, his thumb coming down to the back of my palm.

I closed my eyes at the sensation before turning to him to take him in.

One side of his face was badly bruised. Probably from when the man punched him repeatedly last night. My jaw clenched as I gently ran my fingers over that.

“It doesn’t hurt, pet.”

He would say that even with a bullet lodged in his chest.

His lips were busted, his nose swollen. He was lucky it wasn’t broken. At least, I didn’t think so.

My eyes moved down to his torso, which was hidden from my view with the white t-shirt he had on, but I saw white gauze coming out of it. Mikhail had treated and wrapped him yesterday. I couldn’t imagine what the injuries looked like.

My hand came down to his chest, feeling his heart beating.

He was alive.

“Enough,” Damien said gruffly. “This is upsetting you.”

I shook my head. “Are you hungry? I can go make you some breakfast.”

I moved to get off the bed when Mikhail's heavy hand landed on my middle.

“Baby, breakfast will be taken care of. I’ll send people to get something, okay? How about you just stay here and rest with us for a while?”

Rest with them for a while?

There were about a million things that needed to be done, but the thought of just lying in bed, surrounded by my men, and resting for a while was appealing.

I could do that.

I nodded, and Mikhail pressed a smiling kiss against the skin on the back of my neck. I felt that all the way down my stomach.

My eyes roamed over all my men.

Damien opened his arms. “Come here.”

I shook my head. “You’re in pain.”

“You can be my painkiller,” he answered.

Nikolay sniggered.

I bit my bottom lip to keep from smiling over the cheesy line.

“Come here, pet,” he repeated.
