Mikhail was standing to the side with his arms crossed over his chest. He had been saying something to Damien but stopped when he noticed me.
There was something unreadable in his eyes right now, and I knew, like Nikolay, he was angry with me for sneaking away.
I didn’t like that I had worried them, but I wasn’t going to apologize.
Not for this.
Damien was here, and I would never regret my actions.
Both men tracked my every movement with their eyes.
Mikhail grabbed my hand just as I climbed into bed.
He pulled me up until I was kneeling on the mattress, his large hands cupping my ass cheeks as he pressed a firm kiss against my lips.
I closed my eyes and moved in closer to him.
He massaged my butt, bringing back the arousal I had felt with Nikolay in the shower into sharp focus.
My breath caught, and how I wished my panties weren’t in the way.
Someone cleared their throat, and I pulled away quickly, blushing.
I turned around and got in under the covers, avoiding eye contact, though I caught the amused look in Damien’s eyes.
He wrapped his arms around me.
“We’ll talk tomorrow,” Mikhail said.
Damien nodded.
“Good night,” Nikolay added, his voice coming gruff.
“Good night, guys. And … thank you,” Damien responded.
Mikhail shook his head. “Not something you have to thank us for. Ever.”
I smiled and snuggled in closer to Damien’s chest.
The lights were turned off afterward, and the door was closed gently behind them.
And as tired as I was, now that I was in bed with Damien, I didn’t want to go to sleep.
Damien kissed the side of my head. “Go to sleep, pet. I won't let anything happen to you.”
I took a deep breath. He’d said something similar to me before. I knew he meant it. But I wasn’t afraid of something happening to me. I was afraid something might happen to him.
I hugged him tighter, my gaze focused on the window to my left. The blinds were partially opened, letting in just enough light from the city below.
I tried to keep my attention on that, but my vision blurred, and my eyes burned.
The sob that came out of my throat surprised even me.
Damien tensed beneath me. “Pet?”
I opened my mouth to tell him I was okay. What came out was another sob.
And that only made me cry harder.
