I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him.

For the first time since I’ve known him, Nikolay held still and let me control the kiss from start to finish. I took it slow.

Letting my lips gently glide against his before I opened my mouth, my tongue seeking his.

He groaned when he felt that first swipe of my tongue. His grip tightened around me, but he didn’t do anything more than stand there.

“I love you so much,” I whispered against his skin.

“Fuck, princess,” he groaned, sounding like he was in pain. “I love you, too.”

I didn’t expect him to say that to me often. Nikolay wasn’t really one to express himself with words. Instead, he showed me.

He showed me his protectiveness, his possessiveness, the gentle and harsh sides of him … he showed me his love.

And it was enough for me. Even so, it felt nice to hear the words coming from his lips.

I rested my forehead against his chest and let him clean me up.

Things weren’t okay. Not now, but they were getting there, and I—

I was so goddamn grateful for everything.

I closed my eyes when Nikolay was done cleaning the both of us, and he shut off the water. A slight chill came into the room, and he quickly rushed me out of there, wrapping a towel around my body, then his, before he brought me to the sink and placed a toothbrush in my hand.

“Get ready, and I’ll bring you to see Damien.”

I nodded. He turned to me, opened his mouth, then closed it before he shook his head slightly and walked away.

It looked like he wanted to tell me something.

I didn’t know what, and my exhausted mind made it hard to focus on anything else but the task at hand.

Slowly, I brushed my teeth and rinsed my mouth before bracing my weight on the counter as I looked at my reflection in the mirror.

I was just so tired.

I took a deep breath as Nikolay walked back in. He was in a t-shirt and thin pajama pants. In his hands were my panties and a t-shirt.

He helped me put them on.

I didn’t protest.

At that point, it was taking everything in me just to stay upright.

“Hold on, princess. Almost done, and you can go to sleep.”

I nodded.

After he finished, he grabbed my hand and led me away.

I didn’t spend much time in any of my men’s rooms, mainly because they had always come to me in my room.

This was my first time in Damien’s room.

It wasn’t much different from my own, just a little smaller, though a king-size bed large enough to fit everyone took center stage. And in the middle of the bed was the man himself.

He looked freshly showered, and it looked like Mikhail had treated his wounds.
