A slight panic entered his voice. “Pet?”

The sob escaped then, and Damien said something over the line that I didn’t hear.

I tried to get myself to concentrate, and then it wasn’t just Damien’s voice that I was hearing, but Nikolay and Mikhail’s as well.

“Fuck, princess. Tell me you’re okay.”

“Where are you,kotyonok?”

I looked around. “I don’t know. In an abandoned warehouse.”

“Stay where you are, pet. We’ll track the phone and find you, okay?”

I could only nod, even if they couldn’t see me.

They were going to find me.

I held onto that as I waited.

Twenty-five minutes later, my men found me by Agnello’s body. I heard a rustling noise, and when I turned, I found them leading a group of about twenty men coming closer and closer to me, until finally, they surrounded me.

Nikolay got to me first.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and let out a loud cry.

“Fuck, princess. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. It’s over now, okay? We’re here. We’re here, and you’re okay.”

I nodded, clinging to his words. I was okay. They were here.

I pulled back and found Mikhail by my side, a haunted look in his eyes. He laid his hand on my back and stayed close to me.

Damien was inspecting Agnello’s body.

His shocked eyes met mine.

“What happened, pet?”

I shook my head, the knife I used resting by my side, bloody and heavy.

“I’m sorry. H-He attacked m-me. I d-didn’t mean to kill him. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. And A-Alina. T-that was an a-accident. I swear. I s-swear.”

Damien came up to me. “Shh. It’s okay. It’s okay. There’s nothing for you to be sorry about. It’s okay. We’re not mad at you. Never at you. I promise.”

Fresh tears fell, and I buried my face in his chest, taking in his comforting scent.

“I’m sorry I took away your revenge,” I said through the cries.

Nikolay shook his head. “Forget about that. We don’t care. And this fucker got what he deserves, okay? So don’t ever apologize to us. Not for this, understand?”

I could only nod.

“Please take me home,” I said.

Mikhail gathered me up in his arms. He placed a sweet kiss on the side of my face. “We’re going to take you home, kotyonok.Just rest against me. It’s over now.”

I closed my eyes and did as he asked. I rested against him.

It was over now.
