Page 126 of Fall into Savagery

Our men followed closely behind.

“Where would he hide?” I asked Gabriel.

He pointed his gun to the floor.

I smiled. “Lead the way.”

Gabriel took me further into the building and straight to a trap door by the corner. He opened it and climbed in. I followed right after, coming down to a dark room underneath.

A click sounded, and then the lamp overhead turned on. Gabriel looked at me, death in his dark eyes.

I wondered how much being back in the building was affecting him.

He probably spent more of his time here than he did in his childhood home growing up.

He nodded his head as we walked further inside.

I went after him, followed by Maxim and a handful of my men.

Gabriel shot one of Luis’s men hiding behind the wall before he could draw his weapon.

We came to a corner room.

Gabriel looked back, and I handed him a small bomb. Not enough to kill us, but enough to bust down the door.

He stuck it on the doorknob, and we pushed back to a corner.

We stayed there until the bomb exploded, and Gabriel moved quickly.

I waved the smoke away from my face and tried to see what was happening.

We came up to three men cowering in the corner. And in the fucking middle was the head of the Mexican Cartel.

I laughed.

Luis looked up and met Gabriel’s eyes. “Please. I’m your brother. Your blood.”

Gabriel roared and pulled Luis up by the collar of his shirt. His nostrils flared, and I watched them while my men detained the other two, making them kneel and putting a gun to their heads.

The men trembled, and I looked away from them in disgust.

“Brother? Where was this when you drugged me? I fucking trusted you, and you drugged me, beat me, and fucking left me in the desert to die. Brother?”

“Wait—wait. I have information you might find useful.”

Luis looked at me.

I raised one eyebrow at that. “What could you possibly have that I would want?”

“Agnello. You’re looking for him. I know you are. He’s with the woman.”

“What woman?” I asked, though I already had a feeling about where he was going with this.

“Alina Sokolov.”

I was surprised the bitch still kept my name. She probably thought it would help her out. All it did was put a fucking target on her back.

Gabriel looked at me. “Your wife.”
