“Yes?” I glanced over my shoulder.

He opened his mouth, shut it. “I’m honored.”

“Not as much as I am.”

I left before his head exploded from all the emotion, glad he’d agreed. Now, on to the dress.

As I’d told Nash, I knew exactly what I wanted—and who to talk to.

Even though it was just past seven in the morning, I dialed Kate’s mobile.

“It’s early, even for you,” she said.

“You don’t sleep in, so I figured this was safe.”

“True, but I dream about it. You better not call that day.”

“Promise. Well, I’ll try anyway. Want to go dress shopping with me?”

“Hell, yes! I can pick you up at nine.”

“How about you meet me at Cinnamon Sweets.”

“The vintage shop off Lamar?”

“Yes. Lani has the perfect dress. Well, she did, so let’s hope it’s still there.”

“Oh good, Rye’s up. He can finish Ike’s breakfast. Tell me all about this dress.”

Kate and I chatted for another thirty minutes before I ate one of Steve’s delicious crepes. I made sure the cats were fed. They lay together in their bed lazing in a wide beam of sunlight. Smiling, I headed upstairs to get ready. I showered quickly and managed to tame my hair and even complete my makeup before Nash stumbled out of bed.

He rubbed his eyes, squinting, against the bright lights. “You look gorgeous,” he said, voice still thickened with sleep.

“I’m meeting the girls downtown. We’re going dress shopping.”

“Cool.” He yawned. “For your wedding dress?”

“Mmm-hmm.”

He wrapped me in his arms and pressed his lips to the back of my neck. “I can’t wait to see you in it.”

“Two weeks.” I turned in his arms. “And I talked to Steve.”

He smiled. “Good. I wasn’t sure how to approach him. He cool with walking you down the aisle?”

“Yeah. But he kicked me out of the kitchen because I was breaking his concentration.”

Nash chuckled. “You have that effect on me as well.” He studied my face, his gaze soft and full of love. “You’re the best thing to ever happen to me, Aya Aldringham almost Porter. Thanks for taking a chance and answering my message all those years ago.”

I smacked a kiss to his lips and my hand against his ass. “Best decision I made. Now, get showered and dressed so I can sit with you while you eat before I leave. Kate is already chomping at the bit.”

“You ladies get bossy.”

“Just when we need to,” I said with a wink. “And you like me this way.”

“I do. I love you any which way, but especially coming on my—”

“Shower,” I said with a laugh. “I can’t be all horny for dress shopping.”
