“Maybe my clothes too?”
“Not a fucking chance,” he calls out as he is already out the door, walking his gorgeous, well-kept naked body through his home. “Don’t bother cleaning up either, we’re going for round two.”
I can’t even protest.
I get off the bed and then slide under the blanket, using it to cover myself. At this moment, I take in my surroundings.
My eyes are drawn back to the scene of him walking back into the room with two glasses and a bottle. He wiggles his brows, and his smirk is strong as he approaches the bed.
A minute later, we are both settled in bed with wine in hand.
“So, this day took a turn,” I say, but my smile doesn’t seem to fade.
Reid holds his wine out to me to clink our glasses. “A perfect way to spend a Sunday.”
I nearly choke on my wine. “In your world. In my world this is not a normal occurrence.”
He looks at me peculiarly then tries to hide his smirk. “I take it that I’m the first guy you’ve been with since… well. I took you the way you should always be taken.”
My mouth gapes open and I nudge his arm. “I am not talking about this with your mark still inside of me.”
Reid lies on his side, holding his drink and staring at me. “Solid observations.”
I look away and try to avoid his stare. “But fine. Congratulations, you helped me over the bridge.”
He takes my glass and sets our drinks down on the bedside table then plants his hand on my arm. “I’m happy to have done the honors.”
I playfully punch his arm, but he is quick to grab my wrist, both of them actually, before he pins me down to the pillow.
He peers down to my mouth then back to my eyes. “You’re beautiful.” His tone is soft.
I try to look away, as his statement for some reason surprises me. He is quick to crook a finger under my chin to guide my gaze back to his. “Don’t look away.”
“Geez, you really are still kind of demanding,” I quip.
“And you are spending the night.”
My brows raise. “Because you said so?”
“There are a few more things that I need to do to you. There was never anything you didn’t want to try.”
Bedroom Reid is kind of cocky, which makes him sexier and causes our attraction to be untamable too.
“Well.” I blow out a breath. “It is a long weekend, so I guess logic can go out the window for a night.” I hear the hesitation in my voice, the warning inside my head, and feel that other muscle working in my chest even though I swore to myself it needs a hiatus.
Reid taps his finger to my lips, his look pure accomplishment.
He rolls back and holds his arm out, inviting me to lie against him. Cuddling was never really our thing, I mean, we did it occasionally, but Reid was more a to-the-point kind of guy. Reaping the benefits and back to his busy calendar when he was done. It was our arrangement, and even though I knew I wanted more, I never told him, only hoped. This? I’m not used to the kiss on the top of my head that he just gave me.
But my body is already a traitor, and I nuzzle into him closer, inhaling the scent of his cooled-sweat skin and my fingers tangling into the short hairs on his chest.
We lie there in a long silence, but peaceful and right.
“Why do you think the universe made us end up in the same place?” he asks simply.
“I don’t know, but when I figure it out then maybe I will tell you, as long as you promise me coffee and pie,” I nearly mumble as I get cozy in this position. I draw lines along his torso with my finger, and I pause when I feel his small scar.
“Noticing something new?” he remarks in a drowsy tone.
