Want you? Need you? Don’t want to be alone anymore?
“You’re asking to use each other?” Josette nods, and he shakes his head. “It won’t work.”
“Why won’t it?”
“Stop answering with questions. You know it won’t.” Josette’s heart skips as he suddenly grabs her around the waist and lifts her, sitting her down on his kitchen table. Tingles spread through her body as he steps closer, running his fingers through her hair and holding her there. “It won’t work because you can’t promise me you won’t always want this.”
Oh...
Leaning in, he brushes a kiss against Josette’s lips. Her body shivers as his tongue sweeps along her bottom lip. She whimpers when he pulls away too soon. “You have to promise, or this can’t happen.”
“I promise,” she says quickly, even though it’s one big fat lie. If this is the only way she can have him, the only way Vince will let her, then she’ll say it. “Promise me you won’t.”
“Promise.” The side of his lip lifts. “Promise me you won’t get jealous.”
Josette takes fistfuls of his T-shirt, tightening her legs around his hips. He breathes out, hands sliding up her thighs, causing her to swallow hard.
“Promise meyouwon’t.”
“Then don’t make me jealous.” He unbuttons her shorts but stops with a sigh. “This won’t work.”
“What—it will.”
“No, I meant the table.” He suddenly picks her up in his arms and carries her out of the kitchen, his hands gripping her ass to keep her against him. “I need you on my bed.”
Oh fuck.
Josette’s stomach knots, her head spinning as his lips trail kisses along her jaw. She briefly recalls stairs and a door being kicked open and then shut. Before she knows it, he’s sitting her down on his bed and pushing her back against his mattress.
She watches him watch her, eyes moving down the length of her body sprawled out on his bed, his teeth pulling his bottom lip into his mouth, an indicator he likes what he sees.
“Promise not to dream of me?” Josette teases with a smile of her own. Vince regards her, eyes squinting slightly, his own mouth fighting a hidden smile. “Unless you already do?”
“It’s hard not to when you look like that.” Her face burns.
“Are we doing this?”
He leans forward. “If you promise you didn’t just lie to me.”
“I promise,” she lies. Promises are meant to be broken. She and Vince love to break them.
CHAPTERTWENTY-TWO
Josette’s heart won’t calm down as Vince pulls down her shorts. He does it agonizingly slowly, the fabric brushing against her thighs, causing her body to tremble.
As he removes her shoes and untangles her shorts from her ankles, she wonders if they were always meant to get here, to this point. It doesn’t feel wrong or like they should stop. It feels right. As right as it did when they were best friends as kids taking innocent moments together. When they used to play make-believe in the park and stay over in each other’s houses, doing anything to make each other happy.
Josette doesn’t know what they are or what this means, but she knows she doesn’t want to stop.
“Do I…I look okay?” she asks as his heated gaze soaks in her body. His tantalizing lips have parted as he checks out the black panties she’s wearing. Josette doesn’t know why she’s so nervous all of a sudden and why she wants Vince to voice his approval. Was it because Tyler never did? He just expected her to know because his cock was hard?
Vince touches her chin as she bites down on her bottom lip, a frown appearing between his brows. “Didn’t that prick ever compliment you?”
“All he ever said was that I was one of the hottest girls he’s ever been with.”
“Oneof?” Shaking his head, he pulls Josette up by the arm, pushing his hoodie over her shoulders and down her arms. Once taken off and thrown to the floor, he grabs her shirt and pulls it over her head.
The corner of his lip lifts, but the dark hue in his eyes makes her feel like he’s being more than just playful. Josette goes still when he reaches around and unclips her bra, taking that off too. He lets out a heavy breath through his nose, eyes softening with lust as he looks at her.
