Chapter 15

Justine was late to the sleepover again. She got into her car and set off for Taylor’s. As per tradition, she was already in her pajamas, this time she had gone for her favorite peach satin camisole nightdress. She looked around the streets as she drove, not expecting to see anybody else out this late at night. She hadn’t expected to see anyone out so late last time either, damn that fox for running out in front of her and making Blake her late-night hero. She made a mental note to find out how the fox was doing.

Blake. She sighed at the thought of him. Their make-out session had thrilled her as much as it had frustrated her. She loved that he was thinking about how to make this as good as possible for her, and that he was taking his time and didn’t just jump to sex straight away. Annoyingly though, seeing this sweet side of him was making her desperate. Stupid, sexy, broody, broken man.

Their session on Wednesday had blown her mind. She hadn’t expected him to open up at all, she could see he struggled with it but eventually he’d given in. He had shown her a whole new side to him, the deep, emotionally vulnerable side that she didn’t know existed and had been dying to find. He had opened up to her and she had been able to show him some of the techniques she’d been researching. His willingness to try them and his persistence pleased her.

The only problem was, he was ticking more and more of her Mr. Right boxes and that concerned her. She wanted to find her true love, it couldn’t be Blake, and she was beginning to get attached to him which wasn’t good.

Bright lights flashed in her rear-view mirror, distracting her, as a police cruiser pulled up behind her. The road ahead was deserted so they could only be signalling her. She pulled over, worrying. She had been so lost in her thoughts that she wasn’t sure if she’d been speeding. She checked her mirror again and saw an officer stepping out of the cruiser, the headlights so blinding she couldn’t see more than a pair of legs as they walked towards her.

“Just stay calm,” she murmured, then smoothed her hands through her hair and down over her-

“Fuck!” she hissed when she remembered she was only in a nightie. Okay, that was it, she wouldn’t ever turn up to the sleepover in her pjs again, she would always change once she got to Taylor’s. She had definitely learned her lesson. She couldn’t even cover herself with a blanket because it had gone to the vet with the fox the other week.

“Evening, officer,” she cooed, hoping to flirt her way out of the big, fat fine she was about to receive.

“License and registration, ma’am,” came a familiar deep voice.

She looked up and saw Blake standing there, his arms folded across his massive chest. His expression deadly serious, more serious than he normally was. Her stomach fluttered, he looked so hard and aggressive, it sent a little thrill through her. She would definitely need to dissect that later.

“Blake?”

“I said license and registration, now,” he demanded, flicking his gaze over her and then away.

“Oh, okay, just a moment,” she rummaged in her purse. Thank God she had brought that with her at least. Would he go easy on her and just let her off with a warning? She found her license and held it out to him. He snatched it out of her hand. He seemed so tense, his jaw clenched as he studied her license, his shoulders drawn tight. Was she in serious trouble here?

Blake fixed her with a blank stare and then shook his head, letting out a disappointed sigh. He reached for the handle and popped the door open.

“Step out of the vehicle for me.” His voice was firm, his jaw still clenched.

“Blake? Am I in some kind of trouble here? I’m sorry if I was speeding, I’ll be more careful next time,” she promised.

He stared down at her, his eyes cold and devoid of emotion in the moonlight, his look said don’t make me ask you again. She reluctantly got out of the car and stood in front of him. His eyes took in her outfit and a muscle ticked under his eye. She suddenly felt very self-conscious despite him having already seen her naked. She tried to cover herself, but he grabbed hold of her arm and brought her to stand in front of her car.

“Place your hands on the hood of the vehicle. Now!”

She did as he said, gritting her teeth as she felt the evening breeze kiss the backs of her bare thighs. If she bent any further forward her panties would be on display. He started patting her down.

“Is this really necessary? Where exactly would I be hiding something?” she grumbled past the tidal wave of arousal that spread through her as his fingers stroked over her skin, gently, like he was caressing a lover, not a suspect.

“I pulled you over for disturbing the peace,” he said, his voice low.

“What? That’s ridiculous! When did I do that?” she demanded, her eyes rolling back in her head as he stroked over her ass. He bent forward and nuzzled the sensitive skin between her neck and shoulder, his beard rasping deliciously.

“Disturbing the peace in my pants,” he murmured. His words took a moment to register then she burst out laughing, straightening and all her worry disappeared.

“Please tell me you didn’t just say that?” she gasped through her giggles.

“I’m glad you found it so amusing,” he grumbled, but she could hear the humor in his tone. She turned to face him. His eyes dancing in the moonlight and his pouty mouth had her laughing all over again. He crowded her against the car.

“Go ahead and get your laughs in now, honey. You won’t be laughing in a minute, you’ll be begging,” he taunted, and cupped her breasts, stroking his thumbs over her nipples. Her eyelids fluttered closed, and her head dropped forward to rest on his broad chest.

“You’re lucky I’m letting you touch me after a line like that,” she sighed in pleasure.

“That reminds me, I was looking for a concealed weapon,” he said, grabbing her hips, he spun her back around. And slowly, so slowly, bent her forward at the waist, her round ass pressing into his pelvis, and she groaned as she came up against his hard arousal.

“I think I found it,” she hissed.
