“Sure, you’re from my world, this world, and this connection we have…” He stroked her jawline with the pads of his thumbs. “It’s been fast, but that doesn’t mean it’s not forever.”

“Wyatt, I…” Her eyes misted. Emotions were tumbling and crashing and pulling her every which way.

“You love me, too, right?” he asked.

She held back a sob. “Yeah. I do.”

“Good, so we’re in love, big fucking love, and we’re gonna have a kid in nine months. I’d say we’re living our best damn life, huh?”

A tear escaped. “I’m so pleased you’re pleased.”

“I’m more than pleased. I’m fucking delighted.” He pressed his lips to hers. A long, lingering kiss that held a thousand words.

She melted against him. If she had Wyatt at her side, she could do this pregnancy thing—this being a mom thing. He’d be her safety net if she fell. Protect her and their child with a fierceness that was off the scale.

“Jesus, get a room.”

They broke apart.

Jayden sat heavily on a chair opposite them. He knocked back half a whisky. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to interrupt.”

“It’s okay,” Belle said, then snuggled up against Wyatt as he trapped her close with his arm. He was happy about the baby, which was the biggest relief of her life. Now she could take a few breaths without stress splintering through her lungs.

“So have you done the deed?” Wyatt asked Jayden.

Will he tell him about the baby?

She hoped not. This was their news. And it needed some time to settle before they coped with an entourage of other peoples’ opinions.

“Yeah.”

“You did?” Wyatt appeared surprised.

“All over.” He swirled his drink.

“How’d she take it?” Belle asked.

“Wanted to know if I’d lost my mind.” He shook his head.

“I think you’ve just come to your senses?” Wyatt chuckled.

He shrugged. “It was good for a while, but she’s…”

“Hard work.” Wyatt shook his head.

“That’s a real fucking polite way of putting it?” Jayden finished his drink then reached for another. He’d bought two. “She wants a guy she can keep under the thumb, but ain’t no Barbarian gonna put up with that.”

“Are you under my thumb?” Belle asked Wyatt with a grin.

“Nah, I wouldn’t say I am, babe. Just in love.”

She giggled, and he kissed her.

“For fuck’s sake,” Jayden muttered. “You two really should get married and have lots of babies.’

“We just might,” Wyatt said.

“Really?” Belle asked.
