“I don’t know. Perhaps. We haven’t talked about after the rally yet.”
“You should. You’d fit in well. I’ve always got admin jobs I need a hand with, and with you speaking Spanish, very useful.”
“Good to know. I’ll definitely think about it.” Truth was she already had, so it was nice to hear she’d be welcome in the Clement compound by the boss lady.
But would Wyatt want her there … permanently, or at least for the foreseeable future?
“Belle. Is that you?”
She turned at the sound of Teddy’s voice.
He was sitting up on the bed, holding a compress to his temple. His upper half was still bare, his belly hanging over his leathers.
“Teddy.” She walked up to him and took his hand. “You a dumb biker, or what?”
“Huh?”
“Getting hit so hard you’re knocked out.”
“That nut sack will pay for it.” He frowned.
Belle sat on the bed and set her other hand over his, so she held it between both of hers. “How are you feeling?”
“Like a steam roller went over my head.”
“You could have avoided it. You didn’t have to fight … again.”
Teddy was quiet.
“You’d already won one match.”
“Then I saw that prick with his arm around you.” He grimaced.
“Teddy.” She sighed. “I’m trying to move on after Billy. And I appreciate your looking out for me and all, but…”
“But he’s not the one. I’ve seen the way he looks at you.”
“So have I, and he looks at me the way I want to be looked at.”
“Like a whore?” Teddy scoffed.
“No.” A shot of irritation heated her blood. “Like he wants me and likes me for who I am and not just as a way to get into the club.”
“Wyatt don’t need to get into the club,” Brooklyn said, her tone prickly. “He’s a fully fledged Barbarian.”
Belle turned to her. “I know he is. But the last guy I dated, he wanted in, used me, and lied to me, all in an attempt to get close to Rigor.”
“And I saw him off.” Teddy banged his chest and the compress fell away. “Didn’t I?”
Brooklyn put it back in place. “Well, there’s no need to see this one off. Wyatt is one of the good guys … well as good as bikers get anyway.”
Teddy’s lips flattened into a pencil-thin line that was just visible through his beard.
“I like him. Rigor likes him, too.” Belle squeezed his hand. Life would be so much simpler if Teddy just accepted her new man.
“Like hell your brother likes him.” A huff wobbled Teddy’s belly.
“He does.” She paused. “He wants me to be happy while Pa’s away.”
