“I know.”

He rubbed her ass, smoothing her burning skin. “Nearly there now.”

She gulped, bracing herself for the last four smacks.

They came in a cluster, layering up the heat and landing squarely.

She jolted forward with each one, her pussy clenching and her breasts wobbling. She hoped to hell any wetness from the spanking wouldn’t leak onto her thong. A damp pussy was the last thing she needed at the wedding where she was introducing Griff to all of her friends.

“Done.” He dropped her dress down over her smarting ass. “Next time, you’ll start getting ready ten minutes earlier.”

“Yes, Sir.”

He opened the door and gestured for her to step outside. “Let’s be on our way then.”

Sandy had chosen a beautiful Saxon church to get married in. The sky was a perfect azure blue with swifts shimmying through the warm air. The scent of mown grass hung heavy and the murmuring sound of the congregation could be heard from the churchyard.

Griff offered Ava his arm. “It’s time for us to go in.”

“I know. I’m so excited. Sandy has been planning this for so long, it’s going to be a wonderful day.” She linked her arm through his, his suit jacket soft on her skin.

“It will be wonderful because we’re together.” He kissed her cheek.

She smiled and kept pace with him. The spanking was behind them now, even if her bottom did still hurt.

But as they walked from the lynch gate, Ava couldn’t help wondering what her friends would make of the fact her new hunky boyfriend spanked her when she stepped out of line. That her ass was right now on fire, tingling, her pussy hot from his hand swiping over her flesh.

“Ava.” He paused and rested his hand on her cheek.

“Yes?”

His eyebrows drew together. “This is a big day for you as well as Sandy.” He paused. “And I want you to remember you’re strong, confident, and in control of your life now. Your future is taking shape, you should be proud of yourself, really proud.”

She nodded and blinked rapidly a few times. They were the words she’d needed to hear. Walking into this church and then spending the day with friends she’d partied hard with was a test for her newfound serenity.

“You can do it,” he said, stroking her cheek gently. “I have every faith.”

“Thank you.” She pulled in a deep breath.

He brushed his lips over hers. “Come on, the wedding march will be playing if we wait much longer.”

As they entered the cool building with its lofty ceiling and stained-glass windows, Ava was aware of her friends turning to look at Griff.

She smiled at the sea of curious faces and puffed up her chest. Pride swept through her. The tall, dark, handsome man at her side was gorgeous in his suit. He could have stepped off the cover of an A-list magazine. But there was so much more than his looks, and she was only just learning his layers. In fact she wasn’t sure she’d ever peel them all back. Griff was constantly surprising her, disclosing parts of his history, his life, his thoughts she didn’t know about. She knew he was brave and tough at work when he needed to be, but it was something he wore with calmness, there was nothing flashy or bragging and she adored him all the more for that.

She picked out Mel who was waving wildly and they made their way to sit with her.

“Wow, you look amazing,” Mel said, kissing Ava’s cheek then sweeping her gaze over Griff. “And you must be the man who’s stolen my best friend away.”

The right side of Griff’s mouth tilted into a smile. “Rescued is a better word.”

Mel giggled. “Oh, yes, I hear you’re a copper, saving people and catching bad guys is your thing.”

Griff didn’t answer.

The organ came to life and the wedding march rang out.
