“And this,” Erik said, “is Princess Ingrid Baardsen of Ravndal. Ingrid, meet my mother, Ursula, and my father, Ake.”
“Pleased to meet you, Ursula,” Ingrid said.
“The pleasure is mine.” Ursula did a funny kind of bow and clasped her hands beneath her chin.
“Princess.” Ake dipped his head then raised it again. “Welcome to Khatsar.”
Ingrid nodded. “Thank you.”
“We have a princess in our midst,” Ake called out to the crowd. “And she has traveled here withmyson.”
“Tali. Tali. You have returned.” A young woman with flowing red hair pushed her way through the throng of people. Her pale face was alight with joy, and a tight tunic hugged her chest, pushing her breasts upward.
“Hilde,” Tali said, stepping from the boat. “You are here.”
“Of course I am here.” She elbowed past Erik’s parents and flung herself at Tali. Wrapping her arms around him, she set a kiss on his lips.
Tali staggered backward, Hilde still attached.
“Who is that?” Ingrid managed, annoyance flooding her veins.
Is he already married, or promised to someone?
“Ah, that is Hilde,” Gunnvar said, coming to Ingrid’s side.
“I gathered that. What is she to Tali?” Ingrid’s jaw clenched so tight she wondered if her teeth might crack.
Hilde was not shy about swaddling herself around Tali. She was jutting her breasts up against his bare chest and now had her legs up and around his waist.
Luckily Tali did seem to be untangling himself from her and after a moment her bare feet were back on the pier.
“Er, Hilde,” Tali said, now holding her at arm’s length. “There’s someone I want you to meet.”
“Later, come on.” Hilde grabbed his hand. “Take me to bed. I want sex with you. Lots of sex, it has been too long.” With her free hand she cupped his groin and squeezed. “I want your cock inside me, filling me with seed.”
Tali winced, clutched her wrist and dragged her hand away.
“Aw, come on, you like a bit of rough,” Hilde cackled and tried to pull him down the pier.
“No,” Tali said, halting and forcing her to do the same. “There will be no sex, Hilde.”
The crowd had quieted, their attention going between Hilde and Tali.
Gunnvar set his hand in the small of Ingrid’s back, the warmth of his palm was reassuring when her emotions felt as though they’d just had a bucket of boiling hot water tipped over them.
Behind Tali, Ingrid saw Raud alight from the boat. He set his focus on her, as if making sure she was okay.
But she wasn’t. Ingrid was far from okay. A heat, a huge angry swelling was growing in her chest. Jealousy. It was worse than any gnawing hunger or dreadful thirst. It was so big and brutal it actually hurt.
Tali had sex with this woman.
She wants it now.
But he’s mine. All mine.
“Hilde,” Tali said, “you need to meet Princess Ingrid Baardsen of Ravndal.”
Hilde, still grinning, turned to Ingrid. “Nice to meet you, Princess.” She giggled. “I’m sorry I can’t stay, I have a man to lie with.”
