"I'm going to steal your heart, obviously," she mutters, climbing from the car.She hasn't worn her heels this entire time, not since the cliffs and I wonder if her feet are cold.If they are, she doesn't show it.She's more comfortable this way.More herself than the version she wishes she could fully be.I know she isn’t used to fine dining and silk dresses.
But I’ll do everything I can to give her the power that comes with financial freedom.
Jumping out of the Bugatti, she takes me by the hand and drags me down a hill.Night has fallen and the stars are bright above as they shine down around us.Once we reach the bottom of the hill, we jump over a stone wall which has long since shattered and become ruins, over to a security fence which has a gaping hole in the side.
Crawling through, we come to the back of another field until Vienna stops abruptly and sits her fine ass down at my feet.
"What are you doing?"I ask in amusement, watching as she lies on her back.
"I'd get down here if I was you, unless you really want to die."She smirks, and I narrow my eyes on her curiously.
Following suit, I lay beside her as she burrows herself into my arms and lays her head on my chest.I play with her hair, bringing the soft strands to my nose as I inhale her sweet scent.I don't ask any more questions, I just lay here with her in my arms and finally find the peace I've been longing for all this time.
A settled contentment, that drifts into my bones and comforts me with a feeling that only comes from great slumber. The moment when you're asleep and the world and everything in it settles calmly around you as you refuse to move, because finally, everything is right.
I have that feeling now.
We lay here for what feels like hours as my eyes start to feel heavy and I begin to drift to sleep. The intoxicating smell of Vienna, the heaven that I chase within my dreamscape.
I'm fading fast until her soft voice reaches me."It's time," she whispers and I blink open my eyes just before the ground begins to shake.
I tense, glancing around in confusion as the earth rumbles and a riot of what sounds like an angry engine slowly becomes louder and louder. The ripples in the ground sound like a herd of elephants and just as I'm about to sit up and investigate, she pushes me back down.
"Don't, it's better this way.Close your eyes and open them when I say."She moves away from me, flattening herself to the ground and taking a hold of my hand.
I put my trust in her, not thinking twice before following her orders.Vienna's hand quivers in mine and I know it’s not from fear. It’s from exhilaration.
I know she probably feels the same safe haven that I do at being beside her.
Untouchable like the world could burn around us and we’d still be protected from its flames.
"On the count of three, baby."She whispers, as if she just expects me to hear it over the thunderstorm brewing around us and amazingly, I do.
"One."
"Two."
"Holy fucking shit!!!"I scream, my entire body imprinted into the ground with the brutal force of the winds above us, carving our bodies into the earth.
When I open my eyes, I'm startled when a gigantic plane flies overhead, lower to the ground than I ever thought possible. It descends right towards us, coming lower still the closer it gets to the earth.Vienna cackles like a woman possessed and like everything else about her, it's infectious.I laugh nervously, a broken chuckle which reverberates from my chest with a mixture of excitement and unease as the plane zooms by, the gush of wind stealing my breath and making me choke as it carries on its journey in landing on a nearby airfield.
I'm still panting, trying to regulate my breathing when she crawls up my body to straddle my waist."Have I stolen your heart yet?"she muses, once the plane has passed.
Slowly rocking against me and as much as the unexpectancy of that terrified me, I find myself chasing the high so it never ends as well.
"Woman, I think you stole it the moment I met you.Although now, it's definitely no longer in my chest," I growl, gripping her hips tightly until I turn us so I'm looming above her, making sure I'm the only thing she sees."But you can keep it."
"Is that so?"she purrs, legs falling open to allow me to fit to the curves of her sinfully beautiful body.
"Yeah, it is.It belongs to you now."Something flickers in her gaze and I narrow my eyes."That's the first moment, since I've met you, that you have shown any kind of hesitation. Why?"
"Because you're the only thing that truly has the power to hurt me," she whispers after a moment of silence.
"I never want that to happen, Vienna," I vow, hoping more than anything I can prove that to her with my actions.
Unlike all the other times we have been together, we have allowed ourselves to burn with the fevers of passion, tonight I want us to burn with the fevers of something else.
Emotion.
