Sabine wished she could remember her name. She leaned around to see the emblem on the microphone.

CelebX.

Ugh.

Fine.

The people who wrote the online articles probably weren’t the same people who did the in-person interviews.

Probably.

Maybe.

Hopefully.

Tabatha!

That was the interviewer’s name.

Dave faced the speaker again and drew out his answer.

Sabine schooled her expression. Everyone knew why he hadn’t toured with the last album.

Girlfriend drama.

“Maybe next year,” he said with a flirty smile. “Have you seen my date?”

He turned to the side and held out a hand to her.

Oh boy.

She took his hand he helped her step onto the small platform. He let go of her hand and slid his along her lower back, playing with the diamond bow with his fingers. He shot Sabine a sly smile. “This is Sabine. She’s one of my best friends.”

“You’re just friends?” Tabatha asked, sounding unconvinced.

“No, we’rebestfriends,” Dave corrected.

“Wow, best friends. As his friend, what do you think of his nomination?” Tabatha tilted the microphone toward Sabine.

“It’s well-deserved.” She smiled over at Dave. “I think it’s incredible that he shares his gifts with us. He’s brilliant and amazing, and I’m so glad I’m not the only one who sees.”

His gaze softened on her and she faced Tabatha again.

“He really is talented. Sunshine, I heard a rumor about you,” the lady said with a coy smile.

“Uh oh,” Dave laughed, and pulled Sabine just a bit closer to his side.

Don’t worry, babe,Sabine told him mentally.I have no problem tripping into the camera if she asks anything uncomfortable.

Where had that come from?

Huh. How about that, she wasn’t lying. If this interview got weird, she’d just drop to the ground and faint. She had no problem looking like a fool to save Dave.

“I heard you can make something up on the spot without any preparation. Is that true?” Tabatha asked.

His body relaxed just enough for Sabine to notice.

“I don’t know. Maybe that’s true.” He shrugged, the light dancing in his eyes.
