He laughed. “No worries there. I’ve eaten at the pub almost every night since we got here. Let’s go with Chinese. I’m sure it’s nowhere near as good as what we had in Chinatown, but I’m not picky.”
“I’ll call in an order once we get closer to home.”
“Thanks.”
Most of the drive was made in silence, and when they were about fifteen minutes out, Arianna placed their order. Will pulled up to the restaurant and went inside to pay and Arianna was more than happy to stay in the car. But once they got back to the apartment complex, they both groaned.
They stood at the back of the Jeep and stared at all the bags and boxes that were practically spilling out. “How do we want to do this?” she asked.
“Unfortunately, I think we need to bring all of this stuff in now or it won’t get done tonight. We’ll end up eating and then be too tired.”
“Sadly, I think you’re right.” Giving herself a solid, full-body stretch, she nodded. “Okay, let’s do this.”
It took four trips each to get everything into his apartment, and then Will sent her down to Liam’s while he went back for the last time to get the food. When she stepped into her brother’s place, she shook her head at how messy it was.
“I never let it get this bad,” she murmured before walking over and setting the table for them. Putting the plates down, Arianna felt something she hadn’t felt all day.
Anticipation.
Like…sexy anticipation.
“Uh-oh,” she whispered, and quickly walked to the bathroom and shut the door. Studying her reflection, she had to admit that she looked tired and wished she were wearing something a little sexier, but…
Totally getting ahead of myself here.
And then…
Ugh, why did I order the shrimp with garlic sauce?
“Because I’m stupid, that’s why.” Rolling her eyes, she washed her hands and fluffed her hair a bit and then figured it was all a lost cause.
Out in the kitchen, she found Will putting their food containers on the table. He looked up at her with that boyish grin and her heart just melted.
She was still mad at him.
Well, disappointed really.
And she knew her family was going to majorly disapprove of any relationship between them.
Plus, she was planning on moving. Five more résumés had gone out this week and hopefully she’d hear something back from at least one of them on Monday.
So what did all of this mean?
It means you need to make the most of the time you have with him because it’s temporary.
Right. That.
“You okay?” he asked.
Looking at him, she suddenly didn’t feel hungry for dinner. She was thinking about their night on Twin Peaks and how much she wanted him then; she knew it was just as much as she wanted him right now.
Dinner or Will? Dinner or Will?
It wasn’t a fair question and, with a curt nod, Arianna walked right up to him, cupped his strong jaw in her hands, and pressed her lips to his.
Will had no idea what brought this on, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to question it.
His arms banded around her as he kissed her back like she was the air he needed to breathe.
