“Did you know Arianna moved in here?” Patrick snapped, waving the lease in his hands.
“Here? In the building? Are you sure?”
“I mean here in this apartment.”
“No way. That’s not possible.”
“I’ve got the papers in my hand that say otherwise.”
“Again, it’s not possible. You’ve clearly got the wrong apartment.”
Patrick looked at the lease and shook his head. “Um, no. Marissa typed this shit up and she never makes a mistake. Trust me. She triple-checks everything before I ever see it.”
“Pat, I’m telling you, this time she must not have checked because Arianna is not living in that apartment.”
“How the hell do you know?”
“Because Will lives in that apartment,” he snapped pointing to Will’s door, “and he’s sleeping with the woman living there. I’ve seen him coming out of her apartment half-dressed!”
“Will? Wait…I thought he was dating Ryleigh?”
Liam shook his head. “No, that was all just a thing to get Mom off both his and Ryleigh’s backs.”
They stood there in silence for a moment before Patrick knocked on the door again. “One of us has got to be wrong and I’m thinking it’s you. My assistant is meticulous with her work and in all the years she’s worked for me, there hasn’t been one mistake. If she says that Arianna is renting apartment 4A, then she’s renting 4A.”
There was still no answer, and he was getting annoyed. He had other appointments this morning and this wasn’t on his schedule. Glancing at his watch, he huffed. Then he looked up at Liam as everything his brother had just said hit him.
“Wait…if Will’s sleeping with the woman in this apartment, then that means…?”
Liam’s expression turned murderous as he stormed over to Will’s door and began to pound on it.
The pounding on the door broke them apart and Arianna growled in frustration at the interruption. “Who needs to knock that obnoxiously on a door?” she whined as Will rolled off of her and reached for his jeans.
“I have no idea. Like I said, I didn’t tell anyone I was back. Maybe they’ve got the wrong place?”
“Open up, Will!”
Arianna sat straight up with the sheet clutched to her chest. “That sounds like Liam, right?”
Nodding, Will looked around frantically. “Okay, um…stay out of sight and I’ll get rid of him.” He turned and climbed down the stairs and Arianna quickly rolled out of the bed, found her panties on the floor and quickly scooped them up.
In his closet, she slipped them on and then remembered she didn’t wear anything else over except her bra. Rummagingthrough his clothes, she found a t-shirt that hit her mid-thigh and was thankful that it would cover all that it needed to if she had to go down and get involved.
Doing her best not to be seen, she glanced down at where Will was standing by the door. He hadn’t opened it yet and he looked all disheveled and yummy and…
Now is so not the time to be thinking about that!
“You’re sleeping with Arianna?” Liam shouted as soon as the door opened. He stepped in as Will stepped back. “You lied to my damn face! What is wrong with you?”
“Where is she?” Patrick demanded as he walked in behind Liam.
Seriously? What is happening right now? Why are they both here?
“I trusted you, man!” Liam went on. “All that hinting around about Arianna and you were already sleeping with her! Give me one reason why I shouldn’t kick your ass right now!”
“We opened our home to you,” Patrick snapped. “Invited you into our family and this is how you thank us? By sneaking around with our sister?”
“It wasn’t like that,” Will argued, but Arianna knew he was out of his element with her brothers. This situation had gotten completely out of hand, and it was time for her to put a stop to it.
