I didn’t know what had changed my mind about working as a child’s psychologist, but luckily, all of my schooling somewhat ‘transferred’ to the medical program. Which meant I had a whole lot fewer classes to take than I would have had I come in fresh.

At least, that was what I kept telling myself.

In reality, I was just trying to justify throwing away a perfectly good career that’d taken me a very long time to get.

In Bram’s words, ‘who gave a fuck?’

I was trying to follow his words of wisdom.

I was also trying to raise a baby, go to school, and be there for my husband while I was at it.

Sadly, my husband was the one that was taking the brunt of my dwindling attention.

But he liked to sit with me while I studied.

Like now.

He was on his back with his head in my lap. Our son was on the floor playing with a box of tissues—which he was currently taking out one by one—and I was sifting my fingers through Bram’s hair.

My eyes moved to the mark on his chest that showed that Travis had nearly taken out both of us, and I remembered all over again why I wanted to pursue the medical degree. Because I wanted to fix people and make them whole again. Starting with their bodies.

It was weird how my passion for fixing people’s minds had changed as my mind had healed. Now, the desire to fix peoples’ bodies… that was my next exciting adventure.

I couldn’t wait to see how it went.

And I was glad that Bram was giving me whatever I wanted.

As per his words:you deserve anything I can give you.

That’s exactly what he did, too. He gave me everything.

My every want, desire, and need were met.

He was there every single step of the way.

DORY

The Next Day

“Whoa, what the fuck?”

I looked up to find a child streaking across the driveway half naked.

“Will’s nieces are fuckin’ fiends,” Bram grumbled. “My child will never be that wild.”

I snorted.

His child was already that wild.

Especially when his child got around all of the rest of the Crow nieces and nephews.

“You’re so full of shit.” I laughed as I glanced backward into the back seat.

Harker was dead to the world, asleep in his car seat.

Just like usual the moment he hit the car.
