“Okay.” I replied solemnly.

The group started to file out of the room, mixed emotions on their faces. Angelina is the only one that approached me, and she placed a kiss on my cheek before she met my gaze and winked.

After everyone else was gone, Kristin took my hands, “Thank you, Hugh. Your life is about to become so much more. You will never know how much this means to me.”

“You’re welcome.” I said softly.

She leaned forward and kissed me once, staring into my eyes with her pretty light blue ones before turning and leaving without another word.

“Well, let’s get this started.” Clayton said. “Why don’t you take off your shirt and go lie down on the bed?”

I stared at him, “Um, you don’t expect me to have sex with you, do you?”

Clayton laughed and slapped me on the shoulder, “No, son. Far from it.”

“Okay.” I replied slowly and then went into her room and removed my shirt and kicked off my shoes. I sat on the edge of the bed as the three men came in and for the first time since I’d made the decision, I felt truly afraid.

“Relax, Hugh. It won’t hurt as bad as you think.”

“I’m not worried about the pain; I’m just wondering if I am making the right decision.”

Clayton came to sit by my side. “You are about to enter a world that you have only ever dreamed about. Yes, your days will be different, and your nights will be full. You’ll see things, hear things, taste things and feel things like you have never experienced. Your emotions will be high one moment, and low the next. You will experience love in a way you never thought possible, and when you hate, it will threaten to consume you.”

“Is that all?” I laughed uncomfortably.

“Oh, no, there is much more, but until you have lived it, you can’t comprehend it. The decision that you are making is one that has been in the works for three generations. You do hold great power, and you are going to be a force to be reckoned with, especially beside Kristin.”

“Do you really think so?”

“Yes, but I will tell you this now. If you ever hurt her, I will drive a stake through your heart so fast that you will never see it coming.”

“I won’t, sir. I promise I won’t.”

“Then shall we begin?”

I inhaled slowly and then released it, “Okay, what do I do?”

“Lay back. I will feed from you, I will take a lot, and it won’t feel as good as when Kristin does it. After I do, you will take my blood, then you will take some from Conner and Ryker. Not a lot, but it will bind you to them to protect you. Your transition will begin once you take my blood, and it will take a few hours to complete.”

“So in a few hours, I’ll be like you all?”

“Yes, you will. Then you will feed your blood to Conner and Ryker to complete those bonds, and also to learn how to feed properly. After that, you will need to feed well, and we can bring you any female you want, or—” he paused, “You can mate with Kristin immediately.”

I wasn’t sure I was ready for that, but I was prepared to take the first step. “Let’s get this show on the road.”

Clayton nodded as he glanced over his shoulder, and Conner and Ryker were suddenly there, holding my arms. Before I could process it, Clayton was at my throat, and his fangs dug deep into the side of my neck. He wasn’t kidding about it hurting, I thought he was trying to shred my neck, but I forced myself to keep quiet.

He drank until I began to feel dizzy, and the pressure holding me lessoned. I felt my body being laid down, heard words that didn’t make sense, and then there was something at my mouth. I opened my lips, the taste of fresh air after the rain filling my nose as the blood ran into my mouth. I swallowed immediately as the blood filled my mouth and then I latched on and sucked on my own.

After a few mouthfuls, the wrist was gone, and I felt fangs dig into both wrists almost simultaneously. That didn’t hurt anywhere like what was going on in my mind and torso. My body was on fire and it felt like everything inside of me was burning, as if I was about to go up in flames. I clenched my jaw and held back the cries of pain that threatened to spill forth.

After a while, the pain began to subside, and I drifted off to sleep. When I began to wake, I heard voices and I opened my eyes expecting them to be in the room with me, but they weren’t.

I lifted my hands and looked at them, seeing every line on them as if I were looking at them under a magnifying glass. I heard a laugh in the next room. It was so loud, as if I were sitting right next to the person. I glance around the room, everything was crystal clear. The hum of a motor reached me and then doors opened, was I hearing the elevator? Holy shit!

A heard the footsteps coming toward the door and sat up just as she reached the threshold. “How are you?”

I know she was speaking softly, but it sounded like she was shouting.
