He can’t say it. But he doesn’t need to, because it’s always between us.

“I don’t usually.” I shake my head slowly, surprised at how much effort it takes for such a small movement. “I don’t think I’ve ever loved anything more than I love that vibrator.”

He chuckles for a moment before his warm lips press against my cheek. “Don’t I get at least a little credit? I mean, it was my idea to get it for you.”

I frown when a thought occurs to me. “Did you actually go to a sex shop to buy this vibrator specifically for me? Between yesterday and now?”

“Brayden did, actually.” He winces. “I figured you wouldn’t mind if he knows about our situation since you’re not shy about things like this.”

“So you sent him to a sex shop to buy me a bunch of toys?”

“I think he arranged a shopper. And they bought you all kinds of things. Not just the vibrator.”

“Like what?”

“Uh…” He scratches the back of his head. “Lotions and conditioners and all that beauty shit. I made Brayden look at your YouTube channel to find out what to get, so I hope you don’t lie in your videos. I also had him get Cadence some things. Art supplies, Marvel toys… Stuff like that.”

I can only stare at him, my incredulousness probably all over my face. He averts his gaze. For some reason I can’t explain, my throat grows tight, and moisture gathers behind my eyes. I swallow before speaking. “How did you know to get Cadence Marvel toys?”

His eyes are fixed on the bed. “I asked Hunter what she likes.”

I can’t say anything more. My voice would quiver if I did.

“Don’t fall asleep.”

The sharpness of his voice makes me realize my eyes have drifted shut.

“I’m not nearly done with you yet.” The low rumble of his voice makes my limp body come alive again. “And I don’t want you sleeping in here.”

His words make me go cold. My shock must be obvious, because he winces.

“I’m not trying to be a dick, but I don’t like sharing a bed. And I don’t want…” He closes his mouth, his lips tightening. “I want the boundaries of our relationship to be clear.”

I’m barely able to keep myself from flinching. I suppose I should be thankful for the reminder.

When he lowers his lips to mine, I don’t even find it difficult to kiss him back.

All of the rising hope has now been squashed.

I walk into the kitchen and glance around the sparse white counters, trying to figure out what I’m looking for.

Am I thirsty? Do I want coffee?

I roll my eyes. I’ve been doing this constantly for the past two days. I’ll be driving or playing an instrument or writing lyrics on a notebook, and I find myself seized by images of her. Images so vivid that everything around me fades away.

Her big green eyes heavy-lidded and glazed. Her soft, warm lips wrapped around my cock. The sweet sound of her whimpers.

I can’t get any goddamn work done.

My eyes are drawn to a flashing light on the counter. When I turn to the source, my stomach flips.

Her phone.

I glance back at the hallway before reaching for it, and my eyes widen when I swipe the screen and instantly see a page of apps. She doesn’t even have a passcode.
