Kit nodded. “In fact, she told us all that we already knew all of our soulmates.”

I kissed the tip of her nose. “Well, I can’t speak for her other predictions, but I’d say she was right about yours. Plus, Easter is now officially my favorite holiday.”

“You believe in psychic palm readers?” she asked skeptically.

“Uh…more like I believe in this thing between you and me,” I replied. “I’ve liked you for a long time, baby. You’re crazy if you think that I’m going to take this slow.”

“All or nothing, huh?”

“All,” I corrected. “I won’t settle for anything less than all that you have to give me.”

“What if I have nothing but crazy to give you?” she asked, her lips twitching again.

“I can do crazy, Kit,” I told her. “I can do whatever you throw my way.”

“God, can you be any more perfect?”

I nudged my hard dick between her legs.“We’reperfect, baby. Me and you.”

Hello, Fireworks

You’d think that the cops, the side-eyes, the whispers, and the real threat of losing my job would be my biggest issues at the moment, but they weren’t.

Not by a long shot.

When Vivian had ended up with Cash, I had shaken it off as coincidence. I mean, they traveled a lot together, and had she known that he was straight, they might have hooked up long before we’d gone to see Madam Brousseau.

As for Sloane and Reign…well, they had hooked up on St. Patrick’s Day, so the booze had been flowing and shit happened when you were deep in your cup. A stint in jail, plus lots of green beer, and it wasn’t unreasonable to see how they had gotten together.

Then there was Kit and Lucas, but they didn’t really count. I mean, they were neighbors and had been neighbors for years. It would make sense that they’d get together, seeing as how they’d also been good friends before Easter had rolled around.

Plus, three out of eight wasn’t exactly good odds. Vivian, Sloane, and Kit finding their soulmates could just be a fluke. I mean, in all honesty, not to jinx them or anything, but we didn’t even really know if Cash, Reign, and Lucasweretheir soulmates. It’s only been a few months, so who’s to say that it was forever. Granted, I hoped that it was because they all seemed like good guys, but still.

I looked up to see Ethan eyeing me like he wanted to strangle me with his bare hands, but I was fairly certain that he wasn’t that stupid. I mean, there were cops everywhere, so there was no way that he could get away with my murder. Naturally, I was assuming that he had no desire to spend the rest of his life in prison, but I could be wrong. While I’d worked for Ethan for two years, I really didn’t know him all that well, so he might not be as afraid of prison as I was assuming.

Glancing around the bank, no one was hiding their annoyance at beingdetained, but that wasn’t my fault. All I’d been doing was my job, so they could suck it. Yeah, tomorrow was the Fourth of July, the beginning of a long holiday weekend, but it could be worse. I’d already heard Ethan announcing that we were extending our business hours today in light of this minor inconvenience, so the customers should be thrilled. Granted, that’s why my coworkers were currently glaring at me, but I hadn’t done anything wrong.

I glanced back over at Ethan, and he was just standing there, listening to whatever the police officer was telling him, and I was kind of grateful that Kit had already moved in with Lucas. While they had knocked down the fence between their properties, they had kept Kit’s house as a guest quarters, and if I got fired, then I was going to need some place to live until I got a new job.

When Ethan shook the officer’s hand, I knew that my reprieve was over. I knew that Ethan was going to have to answer for this mess, and he didn’t seem the type of guy to take a professional hit for the team. Well...notteam,exactly.

Me.

Just me.

I straightened to my full height, which wasn’t really all that intimidating. I was only five-foot-three, and Ethan had to be around six-foot-one or two. He also looked like he worked out. Oh, he wore classy three-piece suits to work every day, but you could tell that he kept himself in shape. Plus, one of the girls had mentioned seeing him at the gym once, and she’d given him a five-star review in the abs department.

At any rate, I lifted my chin as he approached me, ready to defend my actions to the death.

Okay.

Not to the death, but passionately at the very least.

When he was right in front of me, he said, “I need you to follow me to my office, Hattie.”

“I thought we were extending our business hours,” I replied. “Shouldn’t I be out here-”

“I wasn’t asking,” he snapped, interrupting me. “And trust me when I tell you that I’m not in the least bit interested in what you think it is that you should be doing.”
