"The Mafia only exists in movies." I ram my hands in my pockets. "I refuse to believe they're real."

"It doesn't matter what you believe. My new bosses who brought me on two weeks ago work for a powerful Mafia family. When I say they run this city, I mean it."

A crack of thunder explodes overhead.

Boom.

Rain pours down from the sky as lightning flashes in the distance. Dark storm clouds roll over Central Park that block out the afternoon sunlight.

"Come on." Grabbing Roy's hand, I lead him under a tall tree. "This will keep us dry."

Trees can be dangerous places to seek shelter during storms. Right now, I don’t care. I can’t afford to wait for the rain to clear to make this deal.

Roy thrusts his hoodie over his head and follows me under the tree. His eyes blaze with an inferno of rage when he turns them to me.

"Look, man." He brings his lighter back to his blunt and flicks it. "I can't get you a new ID."

"Tell me why."

"My bosses won't let me."

"You're lying."

"The boys who escaped the Yonkers warehouse are either in witness protection or roaming around this city. No one knows how they've evaded their former captors' watchdogs for so long.”

I grit my teeth. "You know me, Roy. You sold me weapons last month and I didn't rat on you for that."

"This is different. My bosses will put a bullet in my skull if I disobey them."

Wait. Roy'sbosses? Does he work for the Diavolos?

I pull out my wallet and withdraw five hundred dollars. "I'll let you keep this if you let me know who can help me."

"I need more than that."

I pull another five hundred out of my wallet. "One thousand total. Pocket this and I won't ask any more questions."

Roy drags his eyes down to my waist. "I want something else."

"I don't have any more money. This is all I have.”

Roy puts his hand on my hip. "You didn't hear me. I want something else. Something only you can give me."

I furrow my brow. "What?"

"Show me your dick."

I take a step back. What the fuck? I wouldn't have guessed Roy was into guys.

"No." I push his arm off me.

"I'll give up my contact if you pull your pants down. I won't ask you again."

My eyes narrow. "I'm not showing you my dick. I have a partner and I'm not putting my relationship at risk."

Roy rams his hand between my legs. "You really think I don't know who you are?" He rubs his lips on my neck. "You're one of the boys from the Diavolos' basement. I didn't fucking believe it at first, but my bosses are going to go nuts. They have pictures of you on record they showed me. I knew it was you right away."

"I've never heard of the Diavolos in my life."
