A door swings open in the back of Little Land. An employee wheels a giant cake shaped like an AK-47 into the room. Sparklers fly out of the mystery object and swoosh into the air in a gust of purple flame.
On top of the cake, my dragon stuffy sits with candy fire coming out of his mouth. At his feet lies a ring.
Not just any ring—a huge, glistening diamond ring. It's shaped like a knife.
My eyebrows migrate to my forehead. "What's this, Daddy?"
The employee brings the cake to me, then hands Grant a knife. Daddy slices the center piece with the ring and hands it to me.
"I want to marry you, sweet boy." He leans in and tilts my chin up. "Would you make me the happiest man in the—”
"Yes." I laugh as I dip my finger in the frosting and smear it on Daddy's lips. I don't even hesitate. "Yes. I want to marry you."
My friends burst into applause and shout and holler for us. But I don't hear them.
Grant slams his lips on mine. Chocolate frosting gets all over my face, but I don't care. Let it stay there forever. Let it be an eternal reminder of the happiest day of my life.
Grant tickles me under my armpits. "Try your ring on, baby boy. I measured your finger while you were sleeping. It should fit."
I pop the ring on my finger, not caring that the frosting mashes against my hand.
"It's perfect." The most blissful sensations well up within me. After staring into Grant's eyes, I kiss him yet again.I could kiss him forever."This diamond knife is just what I wanted."
Grant laughs. "Wait until you see it in action."
Flicking a switch on the side, he releases a switchblade that bursts through a slit in the diamond.
I bring my hands to my cheeks. “What's this, Daddy?”
Grant smirks. "It's for you to kill Michael Diavolo."
