“I know. I saw.” Jules grabbed Brick’s waist. “Not gonna lie, it’s real fuckin’ hot when you get all ballsy like that. Daddy likes.”
Brick gasped when their hips collided, and he braced himself against Jules’s chest, his pulse rising fast. “Yeah? Daddy likes that?”
“Oh. Daddy definitely does.”
The hysterical urge to laugh and moan at the same time caused Brick to create a new sound, something like a breathy giggle. “I’ll, uh, keep that in mind.”
“Yeah?” Jules rubbed Brick’s back. “Good boy.”
Brick thought they were going to kiss, and he was disappointed when Jules pulled away.
“Come on.” Jules nodded toward the kitchen. “Let’s eat. Then you gotta get back to work. Guys will be here in just a bit to put in the security system, and it should be ready before you cook me dinner tonight.”
“Hmm. Have we decided what I’m cooking yet?”
“Surprise me.”
Other than the new alarm going off a few times while it was being tested by the installation crew, the rest of the afternoon was peaceful. Lunch was good, and they had eaten on the sofa so Brick could watch the next episode of The Romance of Tiger and Rose.
Jules was hopelessly lost and had trouble with the subtitles, so he decided to make up his own ridiculous plot to fill in the gaps. The last few minutes of the episode were spent holding hands and laughing, and Brick realized that his decision to not date Jules didn’t matter very much.
After all, he kept ending up right back where he started, hopelessly charmed and falling fast.
Fuck.
Brick logged off his computer for the day with a sigh.
He needed to talk to Jules.
Jules was by the front door, checking over the new security panel. He smiled when he saw Brick, “Hey, baby boy. All done?”
“Yeah.” Brick eyed the panel. “So, uh, is that thing working?”
“Yup. All ready to go.”
“There’s no cord? Is it, like, plugged into the wall?”
“Nah, it’s all wireless. Both doors and every window. Ain’t that some shit?”
“That’s some shit.” Brick naturally gravitated into Jules’s arms, his hands once more finding their place on his broad chest. He needed to say something before he went in and kissed those amazing lips smiling down at him. “Look, so, uh… we need to talk, right?”
“Yeah.” Jules squeezed Brick’s hips. “I take it you’re done with your thinkin’.”
“I am,” Brick said firmly. “Look, I like you. We had fun, I like hanging out with you, but I know you’re not sticking around here for long.”
“That was the plan anyway.” Jules shrugged.
“Wait.” Brick’s train of thought came to a crashing halt. “Are you saying your plans are changing?”
“That depends.”
“On?”
“You.”
“Seriously?” Brick scoffed.
“I’m seriously thinkin’ I ain’t had a vacation in fuckin’ ever, and maybe I might stick around for a little while after I’m done workin’.” Jules nuzzled Brick’s cheek. “That is, if I’m welcome.”
