Brick had no idea how much shit he’d gotten himself into, and the best thing for him to do was get the hell out of here.
When Jules stepped back into the room, however, Brick suddenly wasn’t in as much of a hurry to leave as he should be.
And when Jules smiled at him, unexpectedly bright and happy, Brick knew he was fucked.
“Uh, what time is it?” Brick asked.
“Like a quarter after eight,” Jules replied. “I got some people going by your place to fix it up. They’ll fix the doors and shit, put your pictures back up. Gonna put in a fancy ass security system too.”
“What?” Brick pushed himself up against the headboard. “Hey, you don’t need to do all that.”
“Yeah, I do.” Jules sat on the edge of the mattress, reaching for Brick’s hand. “I need to know if those fuckers try to come back so I can handle it right this time.”
“Do I even want to know what that means?”
“It means I’m gonna make sure they don’t bother you again. Don’t worry about it. You ain’t even gonna be over there.”
“I’m not?” Brick blinked.
“Nope.” Jules kissed Brick’s forehead. “You’re gonna keep your fine ass here until I get my work done. Those morons think I’m over at your place, remember? That’s the last fuckin’ place you wanna be.”
“But I’ve gotta work too,” Brick argued stubbornly. “I have a very nice legal, not criminal, job I have to do. My computer and all my books are at home.”
“Yeah, that ain’t happenin’, baby boy. You’re on vacation.”
Brick laughed at first, but he realized Jules was serious. “You can’t just keep me here.”
“I’ll tie your little ass to the bed if I have to.” Jules squeezed Brick’s hand. “I got you into this shit, and I gotta make sure I get you out.”
“Okay, whatever, you wanna be my gangster in shining armor? Fine. I still need my computer.”
“You’re gonna be difficult, huh?”
“Either we bring my computer over here with all my shit or you babysit me while I work.”
Jules was thoughtful for a moment. “All right.”
“What?”
“We’ll go back to your place, you get your work on, and I’ll stay with you.”
Brick was suspicious that Jules had changed his mind so easily. “Really?”
“Just do what Daddy says.” Jules chuckled. “Mmm, and think of somethin’ good for dinner. I’m gonna be hungry.”
“Oh? I’m cooking for you again?”
“Uh-huh. You’re gonna take care of me, and I’m gonna take care of you too.” Jules kissed him again. “Mmm, real good care.”
“It’s because of the amazing blowjob, isn’t it?”
“Well.” Jules chuckled. “I call that an unexpected bonus.” He smiled fondly. “Definitely didn’t think I was gonna find somethin’ like you coming down here.”
“Like me?”
“You know. Special.”
Brick’s stomach fluttered wildly, and he knew he was way in over his head. “You need to be very careful saying stuff like that. Look, I have a lot of weird issues. I get attached super fast, and you can’t just say sweet stuff like that if you don’t mean it—”
