“Oh. Sorry.” Junior lowered his weapon with a yawn. “Just heard the door and didn’t know who it was.”

“Jesus, man.” Brick was wide awake now, and he glared at Junior.

“I said I was sorry!” Junior rubbed at his eyes. “Mmm, is that coffee?”

“Yeah. Go on. Help yourself.” Brick sighed. “Do you know where Jules is?”

“Out. He left a while ago with Erasmus.”

“Did you try to shoot them too?”

“No, but I did tell them to bring back fuckin’ breakfast.” Junior squinted. “What the fuck is on your pajamas?”

“Huh?” Brick looked down. “They’re rainbow dinosaurs with little sunglasses?”

“Oh. They look like dicks.”

“Okie dokie then.” Brick headed outside, shutting the door behind him. He walked out to the edge of his front porch and slowly sipped at his coffee.

The sun was rising, bright rays peeking through the trees and over rooftops, and a thick humidity was already threatening to set in. A cool breeze cut through and temporarily relieved the air of that particularly suffocating quality, and Brick took a few cleansing breaths while he could.

It was a beautiful morning, and he was very thankful to be standing here.

He smiled when he saw his big rainbow flamingo with the missing foot now reattached, standing beside the smaller one by the big tree in his yard. He made a mental note to be sure to thank Jules later, most likely with his mouth, and thinking about Jules’s cock made him recall what Junior had said a few minutes ago about his pajamas.

Brick glanced at his pants peeking out from the bottom of his robe and frowned.

Okay, maybe the prancing brontosaurus’s long neck did look a little phallic.

Brick had made it about halfway through his cup of coffee when Jules and Erasmus pulled up in the driveway. He laughed when they got out of the car and were carrying bags from the Flying Biscuit. “You’re gonna make the Flying Biscuit a fortune!”

“What?” Jules grinned. “I like the apple butter.”

He and Erasmus were wearing dark suits, though Jules was actually wearing a tie today.

“I see you brought my flamingo back,” Brick said. “Thank you.”

“Told ’ya I would.” Jules walked up to greet Brick with a kiss.

Brick grinned. “You’re looking especially handsome today.”

“Yeah? Thanks.” Jules smiled, flicking his eyes over Brick’s robe and pajamas as if he was wearing something equally dashing. “So do you.”

Brick wanted to argue, but it was hard to deny Jules’s obvious desire for him. He simply smiled and said, “Thank you.” He headed back in and then stopped so he could hold the door open for Jules and Erasmus to carry in the food.

Jules led the way to the kitchen table to drop off his bag. “You workin’ today, baby boy?”

“Yeah,” Brick replied. “I’m gonna grab a shower and get to it. Gonna have to play catch-up today since I was, ahem, sick.”

Junior had gone back to the couch with his coffee, but he came over to join them still looking half-asleep as he mumbled, “Oh, sweet duck shitting Christ, I smell food.”

Erasmus smacked Junior’s hand away. “Wait.”

“Ow! Bitch ass.”

Jules and Erasmus divided up the food amongst everyone, and Jules asked Brick, “Where you wanna sit, baby boy?”

“Table is good,” Brick said as he plopped down in the closest chair.
