“I think that I’m going to take a shower and try to warm up a bit,” she says and I nod.

“I’ll build us a fire too. That should warm the cabin up and hopefully the bad weather ends soon.”

We head into the living room and I follow her toward the bedroom. I’m intending on brushing my teeth and I’m almost to the bathroom door when Camden stops suddenly and turns to face me.

I figure that she forgot something in her purse or is going to get a glass of water, but she stops in front of me. Before I can blink, she rises up on her tiptoes, her hands landing on my shoulders as her soft pillowy lips brush against mine.

Just as fast as the kiss happens, it’s over and she drops back down, her fingers sliding down my chest on the way.

It’s like she has a direct line to my cock and I can feel the angry monster pressing against my zipper. He’s desperate to get out and feel Camden’s soft warmth.

“Are you losing the bet?” I croak, my voice coming out like sandpaper as I hold myself back from grabbing her curvy hips and throwing her down on the nearest available surface.

“No, I just wanted to say thank you.”

“Well, I want to thank you too,” I whisper as I step closer to her, our bodies brushing against each other softly.

My hands cradle her face gently as I lean down and then down some more. Camden lets out an impatient sound and her hands wrap around my neck as she rises up, her lips meeting mine. She tastes like mint and the rain and I love it.

As soon as our lips press against each other, I swear that I see stars. It’s like everything just clicks inside of me. This girl is the other half of my soul. We are meant to be together. I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.

I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I have more money than I know what to do with, but that’s not enough. I need someone to share my life with, someone to experience life with and that person is Camden.

I love her.

I know that it’s only been a short amount of time, a day, but I’m sure of how I feel about her.

I need to tell her but as soon as I have that thought, a bolt of lightning and a crack of thunder rattles the house and a second later, the power goes out, plunging us into darkness.

“So much for that shower,”I mumble, taking a step back and feeling around until I find the wall.

“I can build a fire for us still. I just need to be able to see what I’m doing,” Amos says with a laugh and I grin.

It’s nice being with him in this situation. I like that he’s calm and taking control. It’s nice to have someone else take the reins. I haven’t had someone to lean on in quite some time.

“There’s got to be some candles around here somewhere. Maybe a flashlight,” Amos says and I dig my phone out of my back pocket and turn the flashlight on.

“Yeah, I thought I saw some candles in that hall closet when I was looking for a towel yesterday.”

He heads into the kitchen, looking for a flashlight, and I make my way over to the hall closet outside of the bathroom. Sure enough, on the top shelf are a few candles. I grab them and carry them into the kitchen.

“Perfect. I found the flashlight, but the batteries are dead.”

“Well, these won’t be much help to us if we don’t find a lighter.”

“Way ahead of you,” he says, flicking the lighter on and I smile, passing him one of the candles and setting the others on the kitchen counter.

Amos lights the candles and then takes one over to the fireplace. I grab the other two and put one on the kitchen counter and take the other one into the bathroom. By the time I make it back to the living room, Amos has finished stacking a few logs in the fireplace and is busy lighting some kindling.

“We had a fireplace when I was a kid. I didn’t realize how much I missed them until just now,” I say as I take a seat on the floor, my back leaning against the couch.

“You don’t have one in New York?” he asks and I laugh.

“Uh no. I could barely afford the little closet that I call home. It has a tiny, tiny kitchen and a bathroom. There’s nothing fancy or upscale about the place. It has the bare minimum amenities so nothing fancy like a fireplace.”
