My mystery man has already sniffed around the first. I happen to be writing a musical space opera in my spare time, an epic battle featuring a ragtag group of misfit heroes, but experience has proven that it’s better for all parties if I keep that information close to my chest. Outside of my best friend Damian, I don’t generally share it with other people. Otherwise, I become that guy talking about a thing that no one cares about.
Smith gets credit for driving that lesson home.
I should tell this stranger about my album. We’ve already connected over sci-fi, which is literally the dreamiest thing about him. But he’s hotwired my brain like he possibly did that motorcycle, and perplexingly, my other secret comes tumbling out, the one that makes my skin tingle.
“I have a kink.”
Both of his eyebrows rise. “All right,” he growls softly. “Now we’re talking.”
“Fuck!” I cover my face. “I can’t believe I said that. I’ve never told anyone.”
Not Damian, not Smith—no one.
“That’s the nature of secrets, from what I understand.”
I laugh and lower one hand. He’s giving me a devilish smile, and it pulls heat to my face.
“You have to tell me what your kink is now.”
“Except I honestly don’t.”
“You’re already halfway there.” He drags his eyes up and down my body, and I’m fully hard again. “For all you know, I’ll be into it, too.”
My throat closes. My logical brain tries to rebel, screaming that this is not the way to begin exploring this dimension of my sexuality, but my cock is much bossier.
Just talking about this is making me ache and pulse.
“I like sex in, uh, exciting places,” I confess.
He opens his mouth, and I’m pretty sure he’s about to make a joke, but he stops himself, maybe noticing the anxious look on my face.
“What’s an exciting place?” he asks, his voice kind and still flirtatious.
“Like a library? Or an alley?”
“Oh,” he growls appreciatively. “Risky. Places you might get caught.”
“No!” I correct him quickly. “I would die if someone caught me. It’s only hot to me if I can keep it hidden. A secret. The fact that no one knows… that’s what makes it hot.”
The stranger nods, taking that in and possibly impressed. “Okay, okay. How many times have you indulged this?”
“Never. Remember? That’s the nature of a secret.”
He takes another step toward me, nearly touching. “Sad eyes,” he says, “I figured out how to make you smile.”
My cock twitches. I’m tingly all over, terrified and excited. “Don’t tease me about it.”
“Okay,” he says. “I won’t.” The nameless man nods to the trees behind me, thick and deep growth to the edge of an embankment. “Come with me.”
Without another word, he takes off. His gait is smooth and confident as he heads into the wooded area. I’m frozen, watching him go, and then I snap into action and run after him.
“What are you doing?” I ask.
He stops at the edge of the trees, reaches out, and draws his fingers down the back of my head. His hand trails through my tight curls, then down to the small of my neck, barely touching with his invitation.
I shiver, totally mesmerized.
“I’m taking you into the shadows, where no one can see us. And then we’re going to have our way with each other.”
