OWEN
We go on a hike around the resort after lunch, walking slowly through the scrubby, sandy desert as the sun sinks to the horizon and the San Jacinto Mountains.
It’s gorgeous. I’ve never seen anything like it, and Fox is exactly the person I want to share this with. He keeps his arm slung over my shoulder, never letting me stray far, but he’s withdrawn, too. Troubled in a way I haven’t seen since we were kids.
I tell him what I know about the desert, the monsoon season we just missed and the roadrunners that sprint by. Fox listens, clearly glad for the distraction until we return to the lavish resort. He keeps his arm around me as we walk through the columns at the entrance, then wind up the staircase to the second floor, where our balcony room waits.
Fox turns and runs his fingers along the side of my head, curving down behind my ear. “Thanks for the walk.”
“Help clear your head?”
He lets out a raspy laugh and steps back. “Wouldn’t go that far. But I feel better.”
I offer a weak smile. I’m not sure what my role here is. I don’t know if I should ask more about his past or let it be, comfort him or distract him.
It’s funny. Seducing Fox with something fun and risqué would be easy. I could come up with fantasies to whisper in his ear all day. But I think he needs something different now, something I don’t know how to give.
“You should take advantage of your first resort trip,” he says evenly. “We could have a steam, or I could call up for massages.”
I step forward, then press a soft kiss to his lips. “Or we could stay in.”
Fox strokes the back of my head. “Whatever you want, cutie.”
The door is open to go wild and distract ourselves with some new debauched fantasy. But it doesn’t feel right.
I push my lips to Fox’s again, and our tongues meet as he opens his mouth wider, taking me. “I just want to kiss you,” I say. “Can I just kiss you?”
Fox’s erection throbs against my hip. “Of course.”
He still has that troubled look on his face, but there’s more light in his eyes. Fox and I look at each other, smiling and touching.
I know my guy is in there. I just need to show him that he doesn’t have to hide from me, not ever.
Fox kisses me again, and I kiss him back. His teeth drag across my lips, and his stubble burns my cheeks. We kiss deeply, passionately, but slow, too. We cling to each other, and I feel his embrace everywhere.
“Owen,” Fox gasps. He guides me to the bed, sitting first, and I stay standing as I unbutton his shirt.
“I’m going to kiss you everywhere,” I tell him. “I want you to feel good everywhere, okay?”
Fox’s face relaxes into a smile. “Yeah,” he says. “Okay, cutie.”
I kiss him again, then crawl on top of him and keep kissing as I remove his shirts. Fox moans quietly when I drag my mouth down to his chin, kissing the burn of his stubble with my puffy lips. He pushes his hands into my hair as I find the tender spots on his neck, kissing down his Adam’s apple, his clavicles, and to his hairy chest.
Fox keeps one hand in my hair and the other on my shoulder, but otherwise lets me go. He falls back on the bed, groaning and giving himself over to what I’m offering. “Fuck, Owen,” he says as his grip tightens. “Feels good.”
“Yeah,” I gasp, my lips closing on his hard nipples. “Feels good.”
He tastes like autumn, like campfire smoke and mulch. His armpits are muskier when I bury my face there, then work my way over his bicep tattoos and up to his fingers. I lick and savor them, wetting his hand with my saliva. I undress myself as I kiss his rippled abs, then get us both naked, writhing against him as I go.
When I try to think about who Fox is to me, it’s still too much to handle. The feelings in my heart defy logic and reason. But maybe that’s how it should be. Maybe the force driving me to kiss and treasure Fox right now is bigger than either of us.
Maybe it’s love.
The thought fills me with electricity as I wrap my hand around Fox’s erection. His meaty, dripping cock is thick and pulsing in my hand, and as I slick him with precum, I kiss his thick thighs.
“Oh fuck,” Fox grunts, writhing back on the bed. “Fuck.”
