Something occurred to me. I didn’t know what had made Storm’s edges rough. Something in his life had to have made him a serious, sometimes scary man. After two months of being together, I still didn’t know a lot about him. But we were official and trying to have a baby. I should know everything about him, just as he should know everything about me.

My phone vibrated in my back pocket. When I saw the name on the message, I smiled.

Toby: Hey sis. I’m in your area. How about lunch tomorrow?

Madeline: OMG! Yes, yes, yes! How long will you be here? I can’t wait to see you!

Toby: Not sure. A few days, maybe. Looking forward to seeing you too.

“Toby is coming tomorrow?” Tara peered over my shoulder as we followed AJ.

“I guess so. Remember, Mom mentioned he’d be in the area, but I never got a specific date.” I put my phone in my back pocket.

Tara nodded, rolling her eyes. “That’s right. What a stinker for not giving you a heads up.”

I laughed, feeling giddy with excitement to see my older brother. “Typical Toby and his unexpected visits.”

“I hope I get to see him too. He’s so hot.” Tara shimmied her shoulders.

“He’s handsome. But hot? Yuck, Tara. He’s my brother.” I feigned gagging and elbowed her. She’d crushed on Toby since our second year of college when they first met.

I missed Toby like crazy. He also avoided going home to Garrison, our hometown, like I did. It was too damn sad there, too many memories. We’d both broken our parents’ hearts when we didn’t return to South Dakota after college.

AJ stopped at the gate where another guard stood. As we passed through it, my eyes went wide. Lights were strung through the trees, multiple bonfires were lit, and a gazebo was also decorated in twinkling lights. When did the guys put it up? It wasn’t there last week for the small cookout we had.

“Wow, this is fantastic.” Steph nudged my elbow.

It was fantastic. I waved to Sugar, Tina and Emilee as I scanned the area. A row of tables was behind the building with what looked like enough food to feed an army—an MC army. Other picnic tables were scattered on the grass.

“Smells great too. I’m starving,” Tara added.

“Not me. I’m too nervous to eat.” My nerves were short-circuiting. I wasn’t sure why. I felt like something terrible was going to happen.

“I don’t see any kids,” Steph whispered.

Tina’s words rushed back to me, when she said she hoped the guys would start producing the next generation. I hadn’t missed the look of panic on Storm’s face. So much had changed in two short months.

As I focused my attention on the new wooden structure, I spotted a drum set, a few microphones on stands, and some guitars. Had they hired a band? Gosh, I hoped they had!

It looked like a party any family would have on a summer’s evening. Shoot, grander than most I’d been to when I was little.

“There’s my girl.” Storm’s voice boomed behind me. I whirled around. His eyes raked over me, leisurely. “Damn baby. You look good enough to eat.” He grabbed my hips and tugged me to him, planting his lips on mine. He stole the air from my lungs with his delicious kiss. It was just what I needed to relax.

Tara cleared her throat. “Seriously, you two? Let’s not do this here. I need food.”

Storm smirked, not letting go of me. “I’d say sorry, but I’m not. Prepare to see lots of kissing. Even more from my brothers.” He put his mouth on my ear and whispered. “I missed the fuck out of you last night, Angel. We might need to go upstairs after we eat. Or I could eat you instead.”

Steph gaped. “What do you mean even more?” I was glad she interrupted Storm’s dirty talk. He already had me breathing heavy and my thong drenched.

“These parties get wild. There will be sex and lots of it,” he replied in a matter-of-fact tone.

“Outside in front of everyone?” Tara’s eyes widened with intrigue. I figured she’d like the sound of raunchy, unapologetic displays of sex. She was the wild one in our friend group.

Storm snorted. “Yes. Outside.”

Steph arched her brow.

“Oh! We won’t be having sex outside! I swear.” I prayed Storm didn’t have other ideas. Ones I might be persuaded into after sleeping apart last night. I was just as horny as him.
