I squeeze my eyes shut at his tone and the embarrassment it brings. When I open them, I look away in shame, burning heat creeping up my neck and onto my cheeks.
He finally lets go of me, turns around, and strides for my drawers. He knowingly opens my underwear drawer, puts his hand inside, and takes out the phone.
“You knew?” I ask in a short breath.
“Of course I knew. I’m always ten steps ahead. Don’t you know that yet?”
I peel my back off the wall and slowly walk to him.
“If you knew then why did you just do this?!” I point my hand at the wall. I can’t believe him.
“Because I do what I want. It’s as simple as that.” He takes a step closer to me and puts a strand of my hair behind my ear. Looking down at me with a lopsided smile. “And I knew you’d love it. You’ve got a soft spot for me.”
“I–I don’t!” I try to blurt out as honestly as possible, but my burning cheeks are saying it all.
“Ah, right, you’re into Chris. It slipped my mind.” He turns back to the drawer, not even bothering to listen if I have something to say in reply. He grabs a pair of underwear from the drawer and puts it in his back pocket.
“What are you doing?!” I choke on my words, at the surreality of the situation.
“We’re leaving,” he finally says and grabs my hand tightly.
“Wh–what?” I try to pull back, but he tightens and keeps walking.
“Do you never listen, Angel? I told you, I’m keeping you close from now on.”
“Are you insane? I’m not coming with you!” I shout at his back as he drags me along the hallway and to the front door.
“Put your shoes on,” he says once we reach the door.
“Deaf much? I’m not following you anywhere, you psycho.”
He shrugs. “Fine, you made your choice.” He bends over until his shoulder touches my hip, puts an arm around my legs, and grabs my shoes with his other hand before straightening back up. I let out a yelp when my body leaves the floor and I fall over his shoulder.
“Jake!” Panic overtakes me and I try to kick myself off his shoulder.
“Don’t make me spank you, Angel.”
I freeze.
What?
He wouldn’t. Right, he wouldn’t?
CHAPTER 11
‘He calls me the devil
I make him want to sin’
Hotter Than Hell – Dua Lipa

After an eternity of riding in complete silence, Jake stops in front of an iron security gate. When the gate opens, he zig-zags up a hill surrounded by pine trees before he finally parks in front of a huge mansion.
Chris’s house is exactly how I remember it. The house is modern with a countryside personality. It is made of grey and beige stones. There is a warm yellow light leaking from the French windows and glowing in the dark porch that is big enough to host a family dinner.
Jake gets out of the car and comes around to my side. I take a deep breath and reluctantly put my shoes on as he opens the door.
