“You can, but I don’t know if I’ll have the answer.”

She closed the cabinet and turned to look at me. “Why are you a member of the Sons of Sin, and your whole family is in that other club?”

“Devil’s Knights,” I mumbled. “They’re members of the Devil’s Knights.”

“Sorry, I didn’t catch the club's name when Ransom said it.”

“You’ve never heard of the Devil’s Knights before?”

Reese shook her head. “Hanging around MCs isn’t something I don’t often do. Kerry had to drag me to that party at the Sons of Sin.” A frown crossed her lips. “And now I wish I would have insisted we not go. She might still be here if I had.”

“You can’t blame yourself for what happened, darlin’. She could have still gone to that party without you.” From what I had seen of Kerry, she would have shown up at the party with or without Reese.

“Trust me; I’ve already played the blame game. I do that normally when it’s late at night, and I can’t sleep.” Reese turned back to the clean dishes. “I just want to find her.”

“Can I ask you a question now?”

Reese smirked at me. “I don’t think you answered my question yet.”

I took a drink of my beer. “Remember I said I didn’t know if I would have an answer for you?”

“So you don’t want to tell me why you’re not in the same club as your family?”

“My whole family isn’t in the Devil’s Knights,” I argued.

Reese raised her eyebrow. “Your brother, uncle, and two cousins I met today. I think that is a lot of your family.”

She had no clue. That was a small part of my family. “I was part of the Devil’s Knights until recently.”

Reese tipped her head to the side. “Really?”

I nodded. “Yeah.”

“So why are you in the Sons of Sin now?” she asked again.

“Because I didn’t see eye to eye with the Devil’s Knights.”

“Did they want you to kill someone, and you couldn’t do it?”

I tipped my head to the side. “You have quite the imagination, darling. Nothing that dramatic happened.”

“Then what did happen?”

“You’re pretty persistent,” I chuckled.

“Are you going to tell me, or am I going to assume your family is a bunch of murderers, and you didn’t want to follow in their footsteps?”

I smiled and shook my head. “I don’t think I will answer that question right now.”

She cocked her head to the side. “But you might later?”

“Keep feeding me beers, darlin’, and who knows what I’ll tell you.” I probably wouldn’t tell her why I left the Knights, but who knows?

She nodded to the beer in my hand. “Ready for another one?”

“Only if you let me ask you a question now.”

She rolled her eyes. “Fine, ask away.”
