He opened his mouth, snapped it shut, and barked out a laugh. “Only if she agrees and we don’t have to discuss dowries and terms.”
“Deal.” I shook his hand for good measure.
“I hate to change the subject, but…” Enzo motioned to the side of the courtyard. “Can I talk to you and Frankie a minute?”
“Sure. Be right there.” I walked to the dance floor and pulled Frankie from the clutches of my nephew’s cuteness—or tried to.
“No. Frank is mine.” He folded his arms and stomped his foot.
She knelt in front of him. “I’ll be right back. Promise.”
Arianna took Gunnar’s chubby little hand. “Will you dance with me instead?”
The kiddo forgot all aboutFrankand held his arms up to the tall brunette.
Frankie pulled me close and brushed her lips across mine. “I’m thinking we need a son and a daughter.”
“Is that right?” I trailed my hand down her back to her ass.
She pressed against me. “Mmm hmm. In fact, why don’t we slip away and start practicing?”
“As much as I would love that, Enzo needs to speak to us.”
At the mention of his name, her smile brightened. “What about?”
“No clue, but let’s make it quick.” I followed her to the edge of the deck.
Enzo wasted no time with small talk. “I don’t plan to stay in Sicily.”
Nodding, I waited for him to continue.
He drew a breath. “I’m planning to name Sophia as the new Abruzzocapo. Once she gets things cleared up between her and Salvo.”
Frankie frowned. “I don’t think he’ll give her any trouble.”
“Me either.” I couldn’t help but cringe.
After the gunfight ended in Palermo, Giancarlo’s men had found Miquel Salvo in his office tied up, gagged, and…let’s just say Sophia had taught him a lesson or two about the consequences of hurting women. While there was some debate over the legalities of their marriage, I highly doubted Salvo would contest a divorce.
Enzo ran his hand over the back of his neck. “Right, but do you think she wants the position?”
“I think you’re asking the wrong person.” I clamped a hand on his shoulder. “But you might run into some trouble getting the approval of theFratellanza. There’s never been a femalecapo.”
“Marco and Giancarlo will vote on her side. As you said, Salvo is afraid of her. That leaves Ricci. The position is hers if she wants it.”
I nodded again and glanced at Frankie for back up.
She rolled her lips in and glanced away. A sure sign she didn’t care for this conversation.
Enzo drew a deep breath. “I would rather end all Abruzzo ties to the Cosa Nostra and give my sisters a new life.”
“That would be my preference.” I couldn’t help but smile every time he mentioned his new siblings. He seemed to be taking his role as big brother seriously—other than the dowry comment.
“Mine, too. Absolutely.” Frankie’s voice rose. “Don’t ask her, just do that.”
He cringed. “Right, but Sophia…”
“Is a little scary.” I added.
