Turning my head toward the window, I fought to keep my breathing even.
Is Robert responsible for this, too?
“You okay, Mamma?” Gunnar patted my arm.
“Yep.”
“There’s a…” Leo glanced at the child and frowned. “Someone put a device in my rear driver’s side wheel well. Dahlia and I are headed to Ma’s for the night. Maybe longer.”
Device? Or Bomb?
“Not sure. Could be a tracker.” Leo reached across Gunnar and took the envelope from me.
Any other time, I would have snatched it back, but I was glad to be rid of it.
“We’re with Stuart. Any chance you can send more guys?” He scanned the note. His frown deepening more with each passing second. “I realize this is a bad time, but could you let Shanna know Dahlia received another letter from the… Actually, you’re going to want to see this one. I’ll send a pic.”
He stilled and nodded, listening to Marco.
I turned to Leo. “It’s Robert. It all makes sense now.”
This time, when he reached for me, he took my hand and squeezed it. “Dahlia thinks Becker is the one who’s been sending the notes. Until we know for sure, we shouldn’t rule anything out, including a second guy.”
I nodded my agreement.
We’d convinced ourselves that Harrison was the stalker, but it wouldn’t surprise me to learn he and Robert were working together.
