Maggie straightened her dress. “It’s been a long morning.”
The reprieve lasted less than a minute before they locked lips again.
I nudged Shanna’s side. “It’s like watching two guppies.”
Gabe gave me the finger, but continued to suck on Maggie’s face.
“When in Sicily.” Shanna tossed her bouquet aside, grabbed my lapels, and laid one hell of a kiss on me.
I remembered the taste of her mouth from the gala—sweet like wine.
Did the Jewish girl take communion or does she always taste like this?I let the thought go and pulled her against me. With her breasts pressed against my chest, I tangled my fingers in her short hair and tugged her mouth to mine. She made a noise that shot straight to my cock.
Damn. How could I have forgotten the sounds she’d made when I’d pinned her to the wall? I cupped her ass and tugged her into my lap. The voice in my head warned I was playing with fire, but the voice from my other head liked the heat.
The car stopped. I opened my eyes to find the newlyweds staring as if we’d just cured cancer. “What? It’s okay for you two, but not us?”
“Shanna’s my friend. She’s not a one-nighter.” Maggie smirked.
Gabe eyed me as he moved to the door, and helped his new wife out.
I bit back a smart-assed comment. While I agreed with her, I didn’t appreciate the cock-block.
“Shanna’s sitting right here and can speak for herself.” She moved off of me, exposing my raging hard-on in the process.
Maggie either didn’t hear or ignored her.
Already missing her touch, I ran my fingertips down her spine. “I left something at the church. Ride with me?”
She glanced at the door so long I thought for certain she’d turn me down. “Sure.”
“Yeah?” My stomach tightened—yes tightened, because it sure as hell didn’t flutter.
“Unless you’ve changed your mind?” She winked, and I bit back a groan.
This woman.
The attendant glanced inside the car. “Getting out, sir?”
“Close the door.” I spoke without taking my eyes off her. “We need to go back to the church.”
“Yes, sir.”
I removed my jacket and tie before the driver started the car. “Come here.”
“Maybe I should get out. People will know what we’re doing.” She gave me a sly grin.
“What are we doing? We’re having a conversation.” I brushed my knuckles across her cheek.
Shanna shivered, but rather than melting into me, she squared her shoulders. “Not to spoil the moment or ruin the mood, but I swear at least one of the people in the crowd had a gun.”
“You probably saw one of our plain clothed security guards mingling with the bystanders.” I feared she was right, but I needed to discuss it with Gabe before I said more.
“What aren’t you telling me?”
“You know as much as I do. I won’t know the details until the head of the security team debriefs us.”
“Promise me you’ll tell me what you find out.” She nuzzled into my neck.
