I open my mouth but Jesse beats me to it. “You’ve never climaxed with a man before me?” His tone indicates he doesn’t believe me.
I would think any red-blooded man would be excited to learn his skills are second to none. “Nope.”
“How many have you tried it with?”
I tap my open palm on his muscular chest. “Five.”
He clears his throat. “None of them brought you home?”
Now this conversation’s getting weird. I mimic his posture. “Should I not have told you?”
“No. I mean, yes. I’m honored to have been your first.” He leans over and kisses me and all my worries evaporate.
I stare into his mesmerizing eyes. “Can we do it again?”
He kisses me again. “I’ve unleashed a monster, haven’t I?”
“If by monster, you mean awakened your sexual slave, sign me up.” I trail my hand down his torso. “You’re really good at it.”
He grabs my hand and kisses it. “I like the sound of that.” He yawns, sparking me to do so as well. “But for now, you wore me out, woman. I think we should rest.”
He strokes my arm in a rhythmic pattern and despite wanting another round with this amazing man, I succumb to sleep.
An alarm wakes us up, causing Jesse to get out of bed and pull his cell phone out of his jeans pocket. Naked, he sits on the bed next to me. “We have to get back to the ViewPad unless we want a repeat of yesterday.”
Shoving the duvet off my body, I note, “If nothing else, your crazy just-fucked hair would give us away.” I run my fingers through it, but only succeed in making it look more disheveled.
He leans forward as if to kiss me, then pulls away and stands. “No more of this. We have to get cleaned up. Day three awaits.”
We dress quickly and, grabbing my design book, leave 1626 for the elevators and enter the ViewPad holding hands. Bo’s sitting at the island, alone. He gives us the once-over and sneers, “Well, well, well. Isn’t this cozy? I can see you gave it up to him. Was she as cold as her kisses led me to believe? You must’ve worked hard to get any response out of such a dead fish.”
Jesse tries to let my hand go, but I won’t let him. Not even this asshole can ruin my glow. I don’t want Jesse to get another mark on his body because of me. Unless it’sfromme.
Looking at my partner, I say, “Let’s get ready for another full day. Thankfully, we work together.”
Jesse’s jaw clenches but he gives me a quick nod and we enter the hallway toward the bedrooms without saying a word to the Texas carpenter. How could I have thought he was good-looking?
When we reach the doors to the bedrooms, Jesse says, “Thanks for back there. He’s not worth either of our time. Let’s shower and get ready. I’ll see you out here in twenty.”
I pout. “I want to have shower sex.”
He grins. “Soon. But not here, with—” His eyes travel down the hallway.
I sigh. He’s right, dammit. I tap the center of his chest. “I’ll hold you to that.” After a brief hug, I duck into my bedroom.
Mary Ellen comes out of the bathroom as I’m trying to figure out what to wear. Rather, what’s still clean. I dig out a pair of underwear and a bra. My shirt with ladybugs on it will have to do. I’m leaning over at an awkward angle to sort through my jeans when my roommate says, “Have a good night?”
Memories of the amazing time I had with Jesse replay and I smile. “The best.” Losing my balance, I land on my butt.
She laughs. “I can see.” Toweling off her wet head, she remarks, “At least one of us got busy last night. I was all alone in here. Which, given my only other option for company, was a good thing.”
Should I tell her that we saw Bo with Quinn? They’re divorced, but still partners. Perhaps she knows what that was all about? Standing, I dive headfirst into the deep end. “Jesse and I went out to Club Cielo last night.” When she doesn’t react, I explain, “It’s a popular club on the Upper East side. You can get to it from here by taking an express subway.” I’m proud to have gathered this knowledge, no matter how trivial it is.
“I’ve been warned off the subways in New York City. My friends made me swear I wouldn’t get on one.”
“I understand. I’ve never been in one until last night. Aside from the smell and the tons of people packed on them, they’re an efficient way to get around the city.”
“Duly noted.”
