He took her hand and kissed her palm. “I thought it was just me.”
“Ray?”
Stretching upward, he pressed his lips to hers. “It’s been a while, Abi.”
His kiss brought her closer. Straddling his thighs, she pressed both palms to his face and studied his eyes. The hope she saw in them burrowed into her soul. Despite all he’d been through, he was willing to take a chance on her, knowing she had no plans to stay. The gift of his trust sent her heart into a flutter and she kissed him deeply, slowly. His hands at her back tugged her closer until his length nudged her.
Ray smiled, leaned back and pulled a condom from the bedside table. Tearing it open, he covered himself before stroking her inner thigh. His fingers strayed closer to her center, his eyes asking the question. When she nodded, he touched her.
His eyes slammed shut as the contact kicked up her heartrate. Abi kissed his forehead, then his nose, all the while, his fingers aroused her. He slid a finger into her, his eyes opening. She fell into those green depths, rolling her hips in time with his movements. Electricity gathered within her and she held onto his shoulders.
His fingers disappeared but were soon replaced with his hard length, nudging at her entrance. Abi moved her hips to slide down his thickness, her body accepting his entire length. Ray watched her as she stared into his eyes, his hands curving over her hips to pull her closer.
Feeling his heat deep inside her took her breath away, but she moved, arching her back to pull away before bucking back down onto him. A rumble sounded in his chest as his hands took a firm grip of her hips. He lifted her away and pulled her back, thrusting into her. Abi rested her forehead against his, breathing in the air from his lungs as their speed increased.
With a kiss, she pushed him backward onto the bed, encouraging him to lie down while she set her hands on his chest and moved to her own beat. The smile on Ray’s lips was delicious as she rolled her hips back and forth, sliding up and down his entire length.
Ray fitted a hand between them and stroked her. Tension gathered low in her womb and before she could stop it, an orgasm tumbled through her, stealing her breath and her strength. She fell onto his chest, listening to his thundering heart. Ray chuckled, his body bouncing beneath hers as he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her temple.
“Like I said,” he whispered, breathless. “You are beautiful and that was stunning.” He rolled them until he settled between her thighs, his weight pinning her to the mattress satisfying. “But,” he kissed her nose, “we’re,” another kiss to her chin, “not,” a kiss to her neck, “done.”
He leaned his weight on her right leg, his hips thrusting gently. Ray wrapped a hand around her left thigh and brought it as high as it would go. Curling her foot around his back, Abi held on as the feel of him moving inside her overwhelmed her. Her eyes closed as her body bowed under him, greedily taking all he offered. Heat spread through her, making her skin tingle from her scalp to her toes.
His mouth covered hers, swallowing her moans. The sweep of his tongue left her feeling as though he wanted to devour her. Opening her eyes, she found the intensity in his gaze mesmerizing.
Abi’s body met each of his thrusts with vigor, demanding he satisfy her again. Ray smiled and slowed to a stop deep inside her. He kissed her forehead, then the corners of her eyes and mouth. The reverence of his touch stilled her heart. Reaching up, she framed his face with her hands.
The sweet moment wrapped her in a cocoon of warmth and love she hadn’t expected to feel. His care and sincerity should have warned her this connection between them was stronger and deeper than she’d thought, but she held on to the feeling with everything she had.
She smiled up at him and his eyes twinkled in the soft lamplight before he rocked his hips. The fervor of his movements grew. He kissed her before turning his attention to her breasts.
Abi closed her eyes and marveled at the kaleidoscope of colors that danced in the dark, their brightness almost blinding her as her body exploded with orgasm. Ray’s heavy breathing paused before a long moan and a final thrust let her know he’d joined her. He collapsed onto her, his weight on hers heavy and pleasing.
She cradled him, wrapping her arms and legs around him to hold him tight. It struck her as odd that she didn’t want to let go. She was the one who didn’tdolong term. She was the one who’d warned him she was only here temporarily. Yet here she was, holding on for dear life.

He watched her sleepas the rain fell heavily outside. Tucked against him with her head on his chest and her arm thrown over his body, she looked peaceful. Her slow, deep breaths were the only sound and though the room was cool, the heat her body generated beneath the blankets kept him wide awake.
Ray glanced at the clock. At twenty past two, he wasn’t the least bit sleepy. Not with a woman in his bed he’d do anything for.Don’t fall too hard for her.Damien’s words echoed in his head, but he was pretty sure her old man knew his advice came too late and tonight proved how far he’d fallen.
Lying back, he closed his eyes and waited for sleep to come. Wired as he was, he doubted he’d see any. Morning would come too soon and the real world would intrude. At least he didn’t have to go to work. He wondered if he could convince her to stay and spend the day in bed with him. Or at least, spend the day with him. Bruce would play a part in that scenario.
Beside him, she mumbled. Her body tensed and her breathing quickened. Ray set a hand on her shoulder and gave a gentle shake.
“Abi?”
“No, no, no,” she groaned, pushing at him.
“Abi?” he called again, louder this time to wake her from her nightmare. Ray reached out and turned on the lamp. “Wake up, honey. It’s just a dream.”
With a gasp, her eyes popped open and she sat up. Sweat dotted her brow but those wide, frightened eyes scared him the most. Breathing too fast, she stared straight through him. Ray sat up, unsure if she was awake or still trapped in her night terror. He touched her arm but she pulled away and tried to cover herself with her hands. Fear pulled her eyes painfully wide.
“No.”
“Abi? Wake up.”
Her faced paled and she blinked, her focus finding him. “Ray?”
