“You’re never going to catch a good man if you don’t take better care of yourself.”
“First of all sis, I don’t need a man when I have a vibrator that doesn’t talk back unless I flip his switch. Second, I can take care of myself. Now, I’ve gotta go find something for dinner and head home.”
“God, you are so crude!” She sighs again. “I still love you though.” She says quietly after a short pause.
I stare at the phone and wonder what has gotten into her. She rarely tells me that.
“I love you too. Are you okay?”
“I’ve never been better. Go home, get some rest. We’ll talk later.” She hangs up quickly.
Shaking my head, I put the car in gear and pull out of the parking lot. She wouldn’t tell me if anything is wrong anyway. She’d be afraid of me saying I told you so regardless of what it is.
I think she’s wrong about me never finding someone though. One day there will be a man that will love me just the way I am. All my extra curves included.
Bulging muscles and tattoos would be a plus for him. I can just see my mother’s face when seeing one of her daughters with such a man. That would be the highlight of my life.
A few minutes later the smell of Bella’s Brew takes over my senses as soon as I walk through the door causing my stomach to rumble with happiness.
“Hey Jesse! Have a good day at work?” Bella asks as soon as she sees me.
“Let’s just say it was a long day. My feet are killing me and I’m starving!” I smile, taking a seat at the counter.
“You’ve come to the right place. Do you need a menu or do you want the special of the day?” She points to the sign.
Lasagna is the special and already has my mouth watering at the thought.
“The special will be just fine.”
“Coming right up!” She smiles but turns towards the door opening up.
Her smile widens even more as she watches her husband walk through. The love they hold for one another is clear for all to see with how they look at each other.
“Evening Miss Jesse.” Blade smiles my way once he lets go of his wife.
“Good evening.” It tickles me with how well mannered he always is with me. It just doesn’t seem to fit him if you judge by the leather he wears.
My food arrives soon and I tackle it like a woman that hasn’t eaten in months. I can’t help it. I love food, especially food that takes over all your senses the way Bella’s does.
“Good wasn’t it?” I hear Blade from beside me.
“I’m sorry. I missed lunch today.” I feel my face flame with embarrassment.
Throwing his hands up, “Hey, I’m not judging. I eat it the same way!” He points down at his empty plate.
“What does she put in her food anyway? I swear it's become my drug of choice since moving here.” I laugh.
“It’s a secret recipe. As they all are.” Bella answers, walking up to the counter.
“You certainly found your calling.” Gathering up my purse, I begin to dig out my wallet to pay my bill before heading home.
“We’re having a cookout out at the Wolfsbane Clubhouse Saturday. You should come.” Bella says.
“Aren’t those for club members?” I raise my brows.
“Not this one. We have one a month out there that the entire town is invited to. Quite a few usually show up, especially the ones with kids because Mina always gets those inflatable water slides and things for the little ones to play on.” Blade answers.
“Just say you’ll be there. You can meet everyone else.” Bella says.
