Chapter 10

Giovanni

It took several days to hear back from my handler with the news that I had been waiting for. Even if they hadn’t called back, I was still going after Mendez.

A man like that would never stop coming for what he believes to be his. Even a woman that is adamant about not wanting him back.

Several of the guys from the MC are going with us. Judging from the looks a few of them are getting from their women, if they don’t make it back alive, the women will bring them back to life just to kill them themselves.

I tried to talk them out of coming along but Timber was dead set on going. He informed me that I was considered part of the club family just for being Baratta’s brother.

This will be a new experience for me. To have others with me on a mission. While I’m sure that would normally bother me, I’m grateful for the help on this one.

Mateo “Scotty” Mendez is basically behind a fortress that is protected with some of the highest levels of security a man in his position can buy.

Throwing my bags into the SUV along with the other stuff, I turn back to the house where Timber is currently telling Mina goodbye.

Raven walks out of the house and holds my gaze as she comes towards me.

Wrapping my arms around her, I pull her close and breathe in her sweet scent just behind her ear.

“You’ll be careful?” She mumbles into my chest.

“Of course.”

Pulling back, she looks at me with a serious expression.

“You come back to me!”

Not answering, I pull her back into my arms and kiss her thoroughly.

I will never make her a promise that I can’t keep and while I plan to come back to her, it’s not a promise that I can make.

A few minutes later we head out. Looking out the back glass, I watch her figure as it gets smaller the further we get from the house until I can’t see her any more.

The look on the face of the guy at the airport is hilarious when a bunch of motorcycles pull up to his door.

My brother keeps his private plane here but he doesn’t often have anyone with him except his wife.

We spend the flight going over plans and contingencies.
