“Not all your customers live here Lily.” I try again.
“I got this, I promise.” She says as she pulls me in for a kiss. “Go, find your ex-wife somewhere to stay.”
“Oh hey, before I forget. My mom is moving to the Wolf’s Ridge cabins. Ever since Hanley got kidnapped from our house, she has been refusing to visit. So Mom decided to sell the house.” I tell her.
“Well then.” she replies, “Why don’t you let Erica and Cordelia stay at Ellen’s house and you come stay with me? It will cement our engagement as far as other people are concerned. Plus it will give us a chance to finish what we started at the gym.” She wags her brows up and down. I grab her, taking full advantage of her pouty lips.
“You’re so smart.” I whisper to her.
“Don’t forget you said that, Mister! Now get out of here, I’ve got work to do.” She laughs trying to pull away.
Giving her another peck on the lips, I leave so she can work. As I walk back to Hay’s Den my mind goes back over the last few weeks.
All this kissing and hand holding is for show, the sex is an extra benifit. But in reality I’m falling hard for Lilyanna Harris. I’m not so sure I want this, whatever it is, to end.
Three weeks, that’s how long the testing agency said it takes to get results. We could put a rush on it but I decide right then and there I’m going to spend the remaining time crawling so far under her skin and into her heart that she won’t ever want to leave me.
Chapter 5
Taylor
I was surprised to get a call from Governor Harris’ daughter needing help for her friend who has somehow become her fiance. While the story was a bit strange I have to admit that in my line of work, I’ve seen stranger things.
The flight from Alaska to Montana didn’t take very long. I couldn’t get to White Summer any faster because I was in court hearings all last week. My schedule was already clear after that because I had been planning to take a quiet vacation for a little while. Guess that is currently on hold until I figure this out for Austin and Lily.
The results from the DNA test that I set up should be in any day now. The doctor assured me that he would email them as soon as they come in. I’ll check those emails after I get settled into my cabin at Wolf’s Ridge.
Lily’s business partner is the sister of one of the guys from the Wolfbane Ridge MC which own’s Wolf’s Ridge. Luckily they had a cabin open for rent for the next few weeks. They even gave me a discount which I tried to refuse but the lady I spoke to named Mina wouldn’t take no for an answer.
I find the cabin without a problem and I am in awe of the beautiful landscape. It really does remind me of home although it is a bit greener than Alaska. The snow capped mountains look the same though.
While I love Alaska, I do sometimes wish for just a little bit more green during the year.
Inside the cabin on the counter is a note letting me know that the fridge has been stocked as well as the cabinets. That’s good since I really don’t like to grocery shop. I tend to eat on the go most of the time anyway.
I put my bags down in the bedroom, intending on unpacking later. I want to get my laptop and my small printer set up in case that email has come in about the DNA results.
Lily
I never want this to end. I think as I watch Austin walk down the street. We’ve had lunch together almost every day this week, before he walks me to work. It’s only when I turn to the shop that I notice Arin standing next to me.
“Nice ass, if he was mine I would be dropping stuff just to see him bend over. Then I would stare at that ass all day long.”
My jaw drops. “Arin!”
“What?” she laughs.
“Stop looking at my man’s ass.” I semi-growl at her.
“Oh, so he is your man now? Not just your, whatever this is?” She asks, holding her hands out.
“What do you mean, Arin?” I pretend to not know her meaning.
“Come on Lily, everybody in town knows it’s fake to get rid of that horrid woman.” She says.
“But how?” I question with surprise.
“Nobody is going to tell her. Heck they are all rooting for you. That woman has done nothing but make enemies since she got here. She seems to think she’s the freaking queen of Montana or some shit.” Arin laughs.
