Riley
Jace kisses me with everything he’s got, like his kiss could just hold us together if he tries hard enough. My mind is reeling, I’ve got Rick downstairs waiting for me with a bunch of flowers, and Jace holding me against my bedroom door while his mouth fucks mine. How the hell did we get here? I know I have been ignoring Rick’s calls and texts, but what did he expect? I had nothing to say, and the last thing I thought he’d do would be to turn up here.
I know I need to talk to Rick, to tell him what happened between Jace and I, it’s only fair, but I’m not even sure where I’d start. I don’t know what happened or what Jace and I have, yet his lips against my skin feel like home. How do you explain that to someone who you once thought was your everything? That two weeks away with someone you met barely a couple of months ago has now become more than you could have ever imagined. That these two weeks with Jace have been better than your entire relationship with him ever were.
“Jace,” I say his name again in desperation, pleading with him to talk to me, but he doesn’t, he will barely even look at me. I grip his cheeks in my hands and force his stare to mine, “Jace.”
He shakes off my hands, “Don’t, Riles, please, if this has to end then I need one more taste.” He brings his mouth to my neck and starts trailing kisses down to my collarbone.
End? What is he talking about? “That’s not what is happening here, Jace,” I exhale, his mouth driving me towards that usual insane pleasure, and when he drops to his knees I struggle to contain a moan at the sight of him.
He offers me a sad resigned smile, “Don’t make promises you can’t keep.”
I’m not given a chance to say anything else before he grips my thigh, tosses it over his shoulder and then pushes my thong to the side and starts eating me out with rough vigorous licks.
“Jace,” his name moaned in an entirely different context this time. His tongue is relentless, swirling around my clit, thrusting into my pussy, and then dragging from back to front, on and on he goes without even taking a breath.
I feel the tingle of my orgasm start at the tip of my toes, my breaths coming in quick as I struggle to stay quiet, but he doesn’t let up. Just continues to devour me like he is a dying man and I’m his last meal.
“You taste so fucking good, Red.” He sucks my clit into his mouth at the same time he slips a finger inside me, finding that sweet spot inside of me immediately and pressing down on it with a rub.
My entire body shakes as I start to come undone, he uses his free hand to pin me in place against the door as I ride out my pleasure on his tongue until I am spent and completely breathless. He places a tender kiss on my thigh as he pulls back, eyes trailing over my skin like he is trying to memorize every inch of me.
“Jace,” I sigh in another attempt to talk to him, the haze from my orgasm threatening to pull me under.
He stands, licking my juices from his mouth, slipping his hand in mine. “For what it’s worth, Red, I really think we could be great together.”
The anxiety that has been crawling over me since we pulled in the driveway melts away at his words. He’s serious, he really wants to do this. I smile at him, giving his hand a little squeeze, but he just nods his head and pulls me away from the door so he can slip out without another word as my mom calls up to say that the food is on the table.
By the time I reach the dining room, my family are seated around the table, my mom and dad at both ends of the table. Sofia and Jace on one side, and Rick and an empty chair on the other. The tension is thick as I slip into the vacant seat. Nobody says anything as my dad starts sharing out the food, all of us just waiting for the first person to break this awkward silence, it’s unbearable.
My dad is the first one to try, digging into his food and complimenting how good it is to which Sofia agrees and then he jokes that it’s much better than my mom’s cooking which has Sofia and I agreeing with him.
“Hey I’m a great cook,” my mom says, scolding us with her eyes before she puts an arm onto Jace’s. “Jace likes my cooking, don’t you sweetheart?”
I lift my drink to take a sip as his eyes find mine with that mischievous glint of his, before he looks at my mom and smiles, “Oh I love the taste of everything you’ve made, Ava.”
I choke on the liquid in my mouth and splutter it out onto my food as everyone turns to look at me. Jace hides his smile behind his hand but it quickly hardens as Rick reaches it to pat my back in an attempt to save me from my choking. My parents must notice the tension again because the rest of the dinner passes painfully slowly and mostly silent until we have all finished eating. Well, I say eating, but all I really did was nervously push the food around my plate. Rick made a few attempts at conversation but it quickly fell flat and turned this whole thing into a nightmare.
My dad leaves first, taking his, Sofia’s and my mom’s plates with him as he goes, looking a little too happy about escaping. My mom is the next, rising to leave and telling Sofia they need to go start unpacking. My little sister agrees quickly before throwing her arms around Jace so tight that she almost chokes him as she tells him it was the best vacation ever. He gives her his first genuine smile of the afternoon since we arrived home, and as we watch them both disappear that silence settles over the room once more.
If I’m going to do this, I just need to rip the band aid off, it’s now or never.
“Jace,” I whisper his name as Rick’s glare burns into me, but I ignore it as I turn to Jace. “Can you just give us some time to talk.”
When he turns my way I see the betrayal in his eyes before he tries to hide it, “Sure thing, Riley.” My name on his lips sounded like a taunt, “I’m out of here, I’ll catch you later.”
Rick smirks as Jace stands from the table and leaves the room quickly and I frown at his arrogance, but my focus is on Jace’s retreating form so I command Rick, “Stay here, I’ll be right back.”
I don’t hang around to see if he listens, I’m too busy rushing from the table to follow after Jace and by the time I catch up to him, he is almost in his car, “Jace, wait please.” He stalls, hand gripping his open door, “Look at me.”
He turns around, “What do you want, Riley? Your perfect boyfriend is waiting.”
I reach out to touch his arm but he shrugs my hand off as I plead, “Stop, please, I just need some time to sort all of this out.”
He laughs although I know he doesn’t find anything about this situation funny, “It’s fine, I get it, I do.” He takes a deep breath, looking up to the sky before his gaze comes back to mine, “I’m just the guy who you fuck around with on vacation, not the guy who gets the girl, trust me I know.” He leans in and drops a kiss to my cheek, “You and Rick be happy.” The tone of his voice hits me right in the gut, he sounds nothing like my confident Rebel I have come to know, and I can tell that everything that has happened between us in the last few days now feels like nothing to him.
He pulls back, turning to climb inside his car as a tear slips down my cheek, “Jace, please.” My words are cut off by the slamming of his door and the start of his engine, a coldness sweeping over me as he doesn’t bother to even look at me before he is driving away and leaving me alone without a chance to explain.
